Change of Hours

Just been informed,the D.O.M is talking about 07.30am - 3.30 pm shifts for most of office A.S.A.P & and 2 men +van ,not sure if both are linked .

Not sure what our Reps reaction will be as is at Conference this week,but many of us with kids to collect from school would be a nightmare.
Can they introduce later start times under exuctive action, even if the changes are significant and affect your family ?
I wonder where you stand if due to having to collect children from school you cannot do thses change of hours ?

Also peak would be a nightmare last year most of Dec ,most of us were about a hour over time,putting finnishing time now when pitch black outside,so much for H&S. Now with this
crazy van share idea ,being told 3 rounds +everything we will need a night out like truck drivers!Our finishing times could be well into the evening.

What about the customers we deliver to.Many people work from home now.not just a handfull a significant amount in some areas.Do these people want mail at almost the end of the working day, or will they have to pay a preimum like some Companys do already for early deilveries.

Really is quite worring,and advice would be apreciated,thanks.

Looks like if RM implement change of hours I have a legal case against them ,if I have good reasons for not being able to work those hours.

the last letter for town duties is supposed to be 2 pm & rurals is 3 pm

TBH I really don't care what time I start at (nor what time I finish at), for my personal circumcances I can take the 7-3 shift but I can also take 9-5, tbh I really don't care, I'll just work my 8 hours and no more.

We had a trial last week with 2 posties, 1 did 1 frame, packets and specials, while the other just preped 3 walks, then both shared a van to complete, cant have been a success as it hasn't caught on and lasted. Not sure if this is the same idea, but it seems RM are chasing their own tails to improve a service they now realise they have destroyed.
It hurts to say this, but I make no wonder company's like TNT are taking our customers. Im gratefull to be in RM and working, but also deeply deeply embarrased and ashamed to wear the uniform in public.

Except for 'operational reasons' ie. the manager wont pay the staff to deliver it

Most of my office is 2 in a van now, nothing mentioned about change of hours....yet!
