Sick of phone calls when off sick

Can anyone shed any info on the procedure for staff going off sick and managers
getting in touch.
In our office one member of staff was off for a week and got a phone call every day plus
a special delivery letter advising him of having to come in for a MI.
The letter arrived after the member had advised the manager that he would be back in two days as the next day was his day off and would help him recuperate.
To me this smacks of harrassment by the manager and was wondering if anyone new the proper
procedure that managers should follow.

OR Get caller display so you can see the number calling

I had a boss do this to me once and accused me of lying about bing sick even tho I had GP sick note, had very little sick in 15 years. I slammed the phone down and sent MD a nice letter fo objection and I got an apology off the thick accusing boss.

We get this in our office too, I was off for an injury, and got a called just a few hours after ringing them in the morning

they also doing it to another guy who been off for weeks, I sick of the managers at our office, it us against them

tell the boss when he phones that you dont want to talk about your illness to him or her as they are not qualified to understand health problems and they can make a date for you to go and see the welfare and you will talk to them dont discuss healt with mangers.

Problem is that they can get funny , if you don't answer "welfare and support calls " - the old chestnut is " You might have fallen down the stairs " - " Or you are valued and have not forgotten about " - yeah right

I agree re Prevention of Harassment Act : RM tend to work at the legal limit legally - and that's being kind - everything is based on tick sheets from on high and the "correct " RM answers - RM wouldn't hesitate to use it as a counter charge or to close ranks / protect somebody on one of their perverse "" moral" crusades "

I've had stuff in another Industry , the Company CEO was the head of the CBI , his subordinates made RM's look like Girl Guides - however those jumped little Hitler's were not exactly NASA candidates and there are ways and means

I am surprised that RM gets away with phoning posties up and harassing them. If your GP has given you a sick note stating that your are going to be off for a set amount of time, RM should not question it. Ok! you have to go in to see the nurse to see how you are getting on, but no one should be forced back to work, when their GP has put them on sick leave, what would happen if that person had a serious accident at work because they were not fit to return to work? I see alot of posties that have returned to work when they have been signed off sick by their GP most of them look in a bad state, espeically the posties that are hobbling along at work on crutches.

if I phone in sick and have a doctors note then thats it. They can phone me all they like and assume what they like . if they come rounfd a checking they will not get an answer at the door as my CCTV will pick em up. I would slap in a grievience for harsemnet without fail its not on. tell em to phuq off.

Hi, What is the problem?? if you are the sick the best thing to do i think is to keep RM in the LOOP,by ringing up your line manager to let him/her know any changers. Try to ring at a time he or she will not be busy.

You have been on one two many sherry's have you not?. The fact is you are on the sick when you phone them up IE you are letting then know your condition the moment you phone in sick!. it should be an obligation for us all too let royalmail know in advance (where practical) when we are fit too return to work!. And it is already so the case so why harangue staff on the sick if you are in breech of royalmail's attendance procedure you will be given a stage warning unless it was an accident on duty!. (or other mitigating circumstance's)!. Don't hammer the staff for the sake of it.

I have learnt not to answer the phone when you are off sick, they shouldn't be ringing you in the first place, and remember don't make my mistake by going in next day and than being sick later, that now counts as 2 separates sick days

I know of cases where the Postie has had a doctor sign them off for a period & RM managers stop pay within the period.
