our office the drivers take the bags out at 1015 put them in the safe drops and then go about there other business the only ones who have to wait are those fcuk wits that dont do there job properly and as they are ball less stooges they would never have ago at the drivers just grass them up to the lms who do nothing so that side of our office is ok.

To avoid the us and them factions within your DO, it is the responsibility of management to get the drop bags out to the footsoldiers on time which would clearly lead one to believe that they are not giving proper instruction or training to the drivers. Having said that it may suit some managers to have divisions within their office.

Brother whether he or she is very pleased with an office divide is not the issue and it does not negate them from their responsibilities of management to give their employees proper instruction and training and ultimately geting the drop bags out on time.

On the side of the drivers its impossible to get all bags to everyone at the same time. Most want there 2nd pouches at the same time and its just not possible due to things like traffic. Also i have found you are always waiting for at least 1 postie to be ready before you can go out and start dropping bags off. For example some leave office at 9.15am whilst the last one doesnt have his bags ready till 10am. This gives you 45 mins to deliver most of the 1st bag before the driver has actually left the office. Then if your bag drop is towards the end of route he does you have no chance of getting it at the time you wanted.

Why not just leave the 30 - 40mins that you are waiting for your bags cause you will be over your time it isn't your problem just work your hours, do that a few times and you won't be waiting for them again.

Yes it is the DOMs responsibility for telling the driver to drop off all bags before carrying out any other work. You haven't mentioned about complaining to your dom about this, but you probably have and nothing has been dealt with. If i were in your shoes i would 1.) complain to your dom 2.) take your meal break as this 20-40 mins that you are waiting at the box you could be having something to eat instead 3.) If all else fails just work to your time. I think by bringing option 3 across, your dom will have to do something about it sooner or later.

Exactly the reason I just work from my car. Park in the middle of my round and loop back and forth. Got sick of waiting 10mins etc for drop bags... We all like to just get on with it and get home. I arranged drop points etc but they never sorted them. In Notts I've seen pouch boxes by the side of post boxes and it mist be a doddle to deliver from box to box. In Derbys they don't have this and must loose out on a lot of petrol/travel/time etc as a result.

Ive just read a thread on drop bags and a driver being abused by a foot soldier after having to wait for his bags.As a foot soldier i would like to put a point across on were his anger towards the driver may be coming from.I myself wait at least 20-40 minutes daily for my drop bags which really gets up my nose, reason being i know that my driver is out delivering packets,regs and doing his firms theres has been an occasion when ive seen his van parked up outside a cafe obviously this is not acceptable. I was driver a couple of years ago but decided under an office revision to go back on a walk because the driving is crap .The first thing i allways made sure of getting rid of first was drop bags as they caused me more hassle than anythink else,like any organisation there will allways be people that take the P**S OUT of the system.What drivers need to be made aware of is that drop bags are priority over anythink else they have to do under that driving duty but many take the mick out of us foot soldiers maybe because weve given them a packet that they believe isnt a drivers size.There know exists in our office an us and them situation which sint good what we need is to all work together but this will never happen so long may the divide reign which at some point will come to bite us all in the backside. Does it really take over 3hrs from the time you put your bags in the yorkies to them getting down to your allocated drop points..

Why the rush take your time if the bags don't turn up claim O/T (overtime) i am sure the manager will acess the driver it is not your job to do this though you may be pissed off you are paid till a time!. It may keep you in a job. I know this is not what you want to hear but it is the truth!.

have you tried to alter the route of your walk i did and i never have to wait for any bags also i have a decent driver we work as a team i never put on him with packets we help each other. failing that speak to your dim and tell him you are working to your time if you are having to wait for your bags.

Well said most drivers are ex postmen in fact we are the same but we do,not delay the walker's wilfully and i never have done so! but how meny posties have put on piss take packets!? As the quoted poster has said we all work together!.

why the hell should a driver dictate when we have our meal relief?not the posties fault the drivers doing his bulk/specials and packets on the way to the dropoffs.no do not count your meal relief as part of the waiting.

It works both ways. Sometimes a walker is waiting if the driver is delayed for whatever reason and sometimes the driver is waiting if the walker is taking too long sorting. Surely with a bit of cooperation between the two something can be sorted out so that nobody is unduly inconvenienced.

Well when van share comes in you won`t have this problem.
