Just got my 20 year award brochure its crap

Post by 31GARRY »

It is a absolute joke. Three sides of a4. I know it's a freebie but they have really cut back on the selection. Who in gods name wants a lapel pin. Last years had a much bigger selection.I showed it to my wife and she got out her 20 year award book, that she got from her company 54 bloody pages. The choices are as follows. womans silver ring with 20 on it, cheap nasty earings, dvd player, ladies necklace, binoculars, coffee maker, trolly bag, camera, a 20 year charm ( for a bracelet). fossil watch or vouchers. It does not even tell you how much the vouchers are worth. The other offer is to give it to a charity. I am spoilt for choice. Rant over

I have been there, I took the Vouchers myself, I think it was £ 25, didn't bother with the other crap, as to the framed certificate and badge I simply added it to the Consignia 10 year certificate and badge in the loft for selling to a collector on Ebay in the future should I need to.

With a previous employer I got absolutely nothing at ten , twenty and twenty-five years. and not even a word of thanks when I left at nearly thirty  not that I'm meaning to defend Royal Mail, just suggesting they may not be the worst.

Aye--and you'll probably find the vouchers can only be redemeed in some far flung shop nobody's ever heard off! Or are so low in value, you have to spend about 20 quid of your own money to but something decent.

Well done for 20 years not out :Very Happy. I got mine about 18 months ago and i am sure there was a better choice as i rem a stainless steel BBQ which i was tempted. In the end i took vouchers which i think were around £80, they were more than £20 as i bought a speed camera detector from argos :Very Happy . Oh i got the cheap frame as well which also lives with my consignia one in the bottom of a draw

When I got my 20 year award about 8 years ago I think we had a slightly better choice.
I chose a Rotary watch - I saw similar ones on sale for about £80, though RM must have
got them for less, and I still wear it. Previously I had never had a watch which cost more
than £20. I was also invited to a presentation dinner at a London Hotel, which I declined.
Would have preferred it if they had given me the cost of the dinner instead, but they didn't.
The certificate and lapel badge (Consignia) are in a drawer somewhere.

Still at least you will get 6 weeks Annual Leave now. :Very Happy

I don't have as many years in myself. But I have my 10 year badge on my work coat. Then again, we're steadily loosing the long serving staff, so it's looking like more of an achievement all the time.

No, I think it's worth it. Considering all that we have to put up with at the moment. Even reaching 10 years is an achievement nowadays. Most of the more experienced staff, are taking, or have already taken EVR where I am. There's very few left with their 20 years in, now.

Congrats on lasting 20 years :Applause We've a bloke in my office who has just completed 44 years, for his efforts he's had his duty taken away and is now a reserve.
Wonder if I'm entitled to some sort of service award :hmmmm , I've done 6 years this time and 8 years before I went off to have my kids.
