MADNESS.tolkien wrote:in order to fill vacancies we currently have between 6 and 8 posties coming from other depots to do deliveries they arrive at there own depots on time , here is the fun part by the time they have got to us 40 mins later they then prep the deliveries as they dont do any sorting they get out with us but in order to get back home at the correct time they cut off a hour before we do leaving s**t loads of mail which is supposed to be covered by the SA s in the afternoon but there is not enough time for them to do it as well as the normal load of cut offs so every day there is mail not delivered and left on the benches ,any one think that this counts as a delivery faliure because our managers dont (at least it is not recorded as such ).
the strange thing is that the depots the posties are coming from also have posties coming from other depots to cover thier duties

It's part of Phase 2 of the Pay and Modernisation agreement:
Working in nearby offices – Areas will identify and agree with the CWU locally
a approach (which could include the use of volunteers and reserves) to
working in nearby offices within employees’ contracted hours which will
include travel times and appropriate travel and subsistence arrangements.
If you're asked to do this, remember: Check that you're insured for the journey from your own office, to the other one! Many Car Insurance Policies, only cover you to 1 place of work, with no business calls on the way. I'm not sure about the exact wording. As I made sure I got a policy that would cover me to more than one place of work, as I occasionally need that facility, and it didn't cost any extra. I just had to find an Insurance Company who included it as standard.
If your own Insurance doesn't cover you. Make sure that RM will cover you. If not, you will get 6 Points if you're caught, and major financial problems, if you're in an accident!

Better still, just lose use of your car for the period that you're supposed to travel to another office.andy2007 wrote:It's part of Phase 2 of the Pay and Modernisation agreement:

Ah but your seeing if from a customer service/postal workers point of view and in no way could forced lapsing and unpaid OT be said to improve the service we provide.jaf73 wrote:Thats just shows the complete and utter madness of how the business is now being run it beggers belief send an anonymous ( hope i spelt that right) letter to the area manager informing him of your managers actions if hes anything like our area manager he will send him to the moon via the end of his boot that should stop this madness if not see your unit rep or area rep
Pure and simple in my honest opinion its a strategy designed to sideline the Union and try to de-unionise the work force. I honestly think that RM think they were defeated in 2007 and are now trying once again to break the CWU.
Although I have to ask myself why the CWU supported the outcome of the talks in 2007 when some on the shop floor could see what was going to happen.

Oh, I don't use my car for work. I just use it, if I need to go to another office. It's better than getting a lift of someone else, who may not have the right insurance. let's face it: How many of us actually check the small print, to make sure?k979aaa wrote:Better still DON'T USE A CAR FOR WORK!. and you work from the office that you started at we don't get payed enough to commute like MP's!. Thats interesting cause in my office where we only have 5 walks and due to the fact we dont have any summer cover there has been a walk failing every day (last Saturday 2 walks failed plus the parcels on the rural duty!!!)---its a feckin disgrace
Because our duty times are 0630-1430 Mon -sat and our main office have an early finish on a Saturday one of us has to cut off our duty after an hours delivery to go to do a 2and half hour collection for the other office so this duty fails every Saturday and has done since March so basically more than half the duty isn't covered and management do feck all about it,and it gets reported regularly to them-something needs sorted!!!
