The more i watch Billy on the telly or listen to him speak at meetings the more obvious it is that he has very little grasp of what is really happening. After his embarrasing loss of thread at the Manchester briefing he clearly no longer writes his own speeches. That can only mean he has no original ideas, it must be time for him retire.
To say these are difficult times would be an understatement, we need an intelligent leadership with thought processes that are not 20 years out of date and sadly Billy does not appear to have caught up with the modern world.

The problem is, that no-one stood against him. What we really need, is for experienced Reps, to stand against those we have lost faith in. So that the Memebership can decide to either stick with them, or give someone else a chance.

He is in my opinion as well. I have seen them both speak at the same demonstrations I have been on, and during 2007 on TV, and Dave Ward always comes across a lot better than Billy Hayes.

Billy Hayes may be a good political strategist (I don't have a clue if he is), but in this day and age, presentation is a big thing, and in that Dave Ward is much better.

ALLEGEDLY a safe seat in Liverpool , though I'm afraid that I suspect it might be further down the food chain , a quango perhaps , Local Government ? , as you say the Labour Party & everything + everybody has moved on and unfortunately Billy's loyalty might not be rewarded as much as he'd expect - with Johnson it was the old scupper these disputes and we'll look after you routine .

Some of New Labour's whips are ex union officials - Gorbals Mick made it to speaker , that worked well - New Labour can use them as union politics is even more vicious than local or national politics the UNITE leadership battle is a case in point , the splits & dodgy goings on in UNISON is another .

New Labour will know that someone like Billy is hardly going to be headhunted by the private sector , not even Hollands , Lyons or Mr Kipling

. It's all careerist politicians now straight out of Uni or the odd ex junior solicitor etc - :mfo is the ultimate New Labour one

There's been some very dodgy goings on with UNISON , a bit of split with those looking to get on the New Labour greasy pole and the more campaigning ones . Keggie works for UNISON now

I can spot a careerist rep a mile off , you can imagine how he / she will be later on . The Youth part of the union is a breeding ground for it . Sometimes it's a toss up between that or being neutralized OR victimized by RM or it can be protection / being fireproof as we all know

Mr Hayes is doing a great job as G/S.
Its not as if hes a lair or is always telling porkys he looks after the interests of the members in this union and never thinks about himself ever.
look how he helped the belfast lads get their investagation into the death threat made against one of them, without a cover up and acted right away.. ok maybe its more than 3 years now but its still quick, hes other things to do as well, and before any wise men chip no pie jokes please or looking after himself jokes and he would never want a seat on the labour party because look how they spend all the money on claims for kit kats and things, Mr hayes would never want to join a party that makes false claims for things.
so come on give the man a break its not as if hes in bournemouth drinking your money and having a jolly for the week.
