Is it true that out of our subs 80-90 pence of that goes to the labour party if this is the case is there away of stopping this contribution but still continuing to pay your subs obviously with a 80-90 pence reduction. I am not a labour supporter as i beleive they have done me personnelly no good whats so ever, yes they have done some good things but after the latest revelations on expenses ,which all mps have been milking the system for years its just that we didnt know about it i do not want to give them any more of my hard earned cash they get enough off me in stealth taxes

asked my rep for an political levy opt out form 3 months ago
he said its only pennies that go to labour...........i insisted that i want to stop, says now he is waiting for forms from area rep....
i thought we were suppose to be given the chance to opt out on a regular basis ie. every year...
i am hols this week if no joy when i get back then its good bye CWU

AFAIK its only 10p per week that goes to the political fund. There is one drawback as I understand it from withdrawing from the fund in that you will not get a vote when it comes to deciding how to spend it.

Just print the form off mate, and send it in! It doesn't matter if it's ten pence or ten pounds. Why pay someone to stuff you good style which is what Labour have done to the working class for years and years.

Problem is, the fund doesn't just support the Labour Party but other political campaigns. I'm just a bit left of labour, but still haven't withdrawn my 10p per week political fund levy. Get your branch delegates to conference to suport the motions (like Bradfords) saying we'll only support those candidates who support us. It means Labour will expel us, but we can still support the very few good MPs like John McDonnell, Kate Hoey etc. For non delegates, motions and agenda are on the union website when you log in. c u at conference...

I wholly agree and commend your post while NEW LABOUR is our enemy their is good in the party and this goodness is the life blood of the new left!. NEW LABOUR IS OLD TORY and is blairs babe with a still born at the helm in GORDON BROWN!.
