crashed a HCC into a car

Post by NWpostie »

Dunno if any of you had this before, I thought I had put the brakes on my HCC and it rolled down the hill and clipped a wheel arch of a car and the owner came out, there was some damage, bit of paint scraped off and a red mark from the HCC.
I was pissed off, had blisters on my feet after a long time on the Vans so not used to walking, now this.
left the office details with the owner and limped back to the office, will expecting lots of ribbing tommrrow at the office and a bollocking
Im going to use a Golf Trolley in future, less chance of a roll down.

a s**t second week back on delivery, come into a heavy week last week and trying to do the job properly and getting flak now this.

feel like staying in bed all day

my duty is taken out in the revision, but I still keep my allowances for 3 years. I am on this duty til the whole office resign comes in and I will be picking a duty more suited to me.

Thanks for the sympathy.

There was 10% savings drive and rationalisation as a revision, No I wasn't offered redundancy, I wouldn't accept anyway as there is no Jobs around and I have 19 years to go til I retire, not worth it, so I am doing this duty til I can get something decent in the repick, I am well up in the seniority, so I should get a good duty, some old timers have taken VR to as they are close to retirement.

Not looking forward to tommorrow at work, so will just have to take the bollocking, smile at the ribbing and just get on with it.

Brother NWpostie remember the following:

What is the right to be accompanied?
Where a worker is required or invited by his employer to attend a disciplinary or grievance hearing and the worker 'reasonably requests' to be accompanied at the hearing the employer must allow the worker to be accompanied by a 'single companion'.

What is a 'hearing' in this context?
A disciplinary hearing is defined as a hearing the outcome of which could be the issuing of a formal warning, some other disciplinary action being taken, or confirmation of these sanctions (for example, an appeal hearing).

There is no right to be accompanied at informal discussions or counselling/advisory meetings unless the outcome of the meeting could be a formal warning or other action. Workers often ask to be accompanied at investigatory meetings. However, there is no right to be accompanied at these and you are entitled to refuse such a request unless your own policy or contract gives a right to be accompanied.

in your mitigating circumstances you didn't think that you had applied the HCT brakes you are 100% sure you applied the brakes correctly. Could they be faulty and if this is the case why is your DOM allowing workplace apparatus out on the streets which is not fit for purpose.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

Thanks BrotherMagrew , something to consider, I would imagine it won't be a comfortable experience either way.

How did you get on today NWpostie?

I've had my trolley roll away but luckily never hit anything, it's probably only a matter of time though. Hope today wasn't too bad.
