Being moved off delivery

Just had a quick search, and couldn't see anything, but if there are already topics please let me know.

Any way, down to my question, we've had Geo come in and did a bad job of it :( we now have a number of people cutting off, they tend to be 40+ in age and have a number of years in service, so they know what a rural delivery entails (which are mainly driving jobs).

What now seems to be happening is people who are cutting off regularly, are being taken off their delivery and generally someone a lot younger is put on the delivery, the excuse being that other people can do the delivery so why can't you. A couple have been prep tested, but to be honest I've tried to get through to the DOM that prep doesn't really have anything to do with the delivery time, but I'm not getting very far.

The ones I've heard about so far, have been done in the past couple of weeks when I've been on holiday, so I've not talked to the DOM or any of the other involved, I've got a couple of ideas, but if anyone can tell me with assurance what we should try and get our rep to do (I'm on the committee). Or if other offices have experience of this, what did you do and did it work?

I believe this is going to get worse, and RM really only want to employ PT and below thirty year olds.

This sound like AGE DISCRIMINATION and as such royalmail should offer support to all and not DISCRIMINATE by the rule of the jungle!. What duties are the 'older' posties doing then?
Have you all signed for the duties,cause he can't take you off them willy nilly.

Duties should be done in such a way that all ages can do them ffs!

we have been in geo-route since june 2007 did you have a re-pick was the h&s rep involved ? oh and watch for you are entitled to a review after 6 and 13 week we did not find out till it was to late maybe because the rep got a easy duty oh dont worry they will come back for more. :cfo :cfo :cfo

As far as I am aware they can only move people of duties they have signed for, as a last resort to cover an unexpected absence or as they call it operatioal requirements.You are not to be moved because younger members of staff can complete the duty (clear case of discrimination) get all people who are moved to put in a grievence. Management will never learn, were is the respect that they are suppose to show to all.

Thanks for the ideas, we've not had a repick yet, because we're hoping to get the duties sorted out. They are all on signed duties, what seems to be the theme is that they are not doing the job fast enough, which is why I assume they're doing prep tests first, what thats got to do with the delivery part I'm not sure.

So far from what I gather, when they're removed from rural to a town duty - a walk duty, so again I don't see what they'll gain, apart from the stress this is going to bring on, because it intimidates others who want to cut off, having the risk of being taken off their fixed duty.

I've also heard, but again got to confirm, that the DOM doesn't want to pay O/T, but wants it to be saved up and a day taken when you have 8 hours saved, TBH it's all starting to get beyond a joke.

We're in the GL area and it would seem we're not the only office having lots of problems starting to become a major problem, I gather that the area reps office is having similar problems, if his office can't be sorted out, doesn't bode well for us smaller offices :( Of course if we didn't have an office full of grabbers and people to break a strike, we could of gone down that route, but thats a no no, and the management know that.

That 8 hour bit sounds like Phase 4 banking of hours it is to be resisted at all costs as hour's can and will disappear!.

I agree as I was talking to a guy today who agreed with the dom to bank his hours. He had two days to take and the dom said what days were that then.
