With the pay and modernisation agreement ending this year i was wondering whether any one knows were this is going to leave us in summer 2010 does flexibility end this summer and theres going to be no more walk absorption or will a new agreement be drawn up its makes you wonder doesnt it :mfo

No it don't end just that our pay deal was 2007/2008 in 2009 april we are to agree a new pay deal but royalmail said NO pay freeze is implemented and we are where we are!. 2010 is along way off!.

i was under the impression the agreement was from 2007/2009 obviously i was wrong but thats the years given at the heading of the pay and modernisation agreement and in royal mail eyes 2010 isnt a long way off they most probably allready have somethink nasty in mind for us

Royalmail pay used to be Sep to september now it is APR to april just like the tax year so it was two years pay deal!.

Almost correct. It used to be October, but negotiations tended to drag on and on and we would threaten to strike, a good weapon when Christmas was on the horizon and chaos would ensue. Moving the pay settlement date to coincide with the tax year was bad news for us, as it's nowhere near as much of a weapon to threaten to strike in the summer when - as we all know - mail volumes are much lower

The Pay and Modernisation Agreement doesn't end this year. It was something we had to agree to, if we wanted the pay rise over 2 years. It's basically the same situation we had with The Way Forward Agreement: If you don't accept it, you get no pay rise.

The Pay and Modernisation Agreement is sadly, here to stay. I just hope that all those who foolishly voted for it, are happy now!

... and I hope the ones who didn't use their vote at all don't come whingeing to me about any aspects of it that they don't like. Failing to actively vote against it might just as well have been a vote in favour

Yep I completely agree.

If you voted NO or voted YES - at least you did the decent thing and voted in line with your conscience and beliefs.

If you got a ballot paper and threw it away then in effect you voted to accept the deal as there was no such thing as Abstaining from the vote or its consequences.


Of course if the reason you did not vote was you did not get a ballot paper or were not in the CWU at the time then I cannot cast any discredit on you.
