Walk absorption

Post by jaf73 »

Hello folks just a quick one on walk absorption on how this should be done. I believe that my managers are abusing the system in our office,i was allways under the impresion that walks to be absorped would only be walks that were on annual leave in our office because we have so many people are on long term sick were are covering those beats which are no were near the 16 postmen who are covering it to there own walks. Again i was under the impression they would only be walks that were near to the delivery office , some postmen are traveling 2,3 miles away from there own walks to go and do a 16th of a beat (20 minutes work). Also the mail volumes at present are high in our office i have explained to the managers that the mail volumes dictate when we can absorp but they dismiss this because summer absorption runs from week 10 to week 22 and we are in week 10.I just no in our office the system is being abused as ive spoken to other reps in local offices and when they explain how they are absorping i feel as thoe im doing some think wrong although i have inherited this absorption problem from a previous rep who agreed it on our behalf with out any consulting with the members. So any help on this matter would be gratefully received

Re: Walk absorption...At my office we have no plans to enter into this.Royal mail keeps on breaking agreements, not following the I R framework and continues to not recognise the union...so until that changes and the workers and the union gets the respect they deserve why should we do anything for this company that we dont have too!! :cool

Just do your job properly and they can't make you work over your time.

it was supposed to start in our office this week but i may have got it delayed no consultation with the staff most have said we are not doing it a few said take a manager out, but my main gripe is no thought at all about health & safety BEFORE any changes take place, i'm off this week but told the manager i would be contacting the H & S executive so if you stick together you can beat them.

Started in our office yesterday, after everyone moaning about it I was the only one in the office who refused to take my share. glad I'm off today as I bet I'm in the office Wednesday. I already had to wait 35mins for a lift out to my duty and finished booking 15mins OT to do the lapsed work would have meant going out again in the total oposite direction requiring and lift there and back. So there was no chance I was going to do it and i'll do the same everyday during the summer unless it suits me to do the ot but 20mins deliver will cost them about 1 hour in travel there and back etc...

I've been moved off my regular walk because I am doing the job properly. Not that many people will stand up for theirselves and ruin it for others.

This is wrong  does your rep know?
Tell them to get on the case and demand you be put back on your walk. You are being bullied imho by a manager who is taking the piss and acting like a little baby.
