paper towels

This is a strange thread but here goes. I must admit that my office is quite good in these matters as we have two dryers and a dispenser with nice white paper towels (better than the brown stuff we used to have). Most people wash their hands as well so thats not a problem. I do know what you mean about the door handle bar though as its often wet with hand water i hope so i grab it at the top where it meets the wood.

heres a silly one have you had your paper towels taken from your toliets ,we have as we used to open the doors with them as a lot of people do not wash their hands ,and i feel that it only passes on the germs by using the door handle after following some of these , dont these people read the swine flu pamplets we delivered a couple of weeks ago ,now we have one hand drier tucked away in a corner

Statutory Instrument 1992 No.3004 The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992:

Washing facilities
21.—(1) Suitable and sufficient washing facilities, including showers if required by the nature of the work or for health reasons, shall be provided at readily accessible places.

(2) Without prejudice to the generality of paragraph (1), washing facilities shall not be suitable unless—
(a) they are provided in the immediate vicinity of every sanitary convenience, whether or not provided elsewhere as well;
(b) they are provided in the vicinity of any changing rooms required by these Regulations, whether or not provided elsewhere as well;
(c) they include a supply of clean hot and cold, or warm, water (which shall be running water so far as is practicable);
(d) they include soap or other suitable means of cleaning;
(e) they include towels or other suitable means of drying;
(f) the rooms containing them are sufficiently ventilated and lit;
(g) they and the rooms containing them are kept in a clean and orderly condition; and
(h) separate facilities are provided for men and women, except where and so far as they are provided in a room the door of which is capable of being secured from inside and the facilities in each such room are intended to be used by only one person at a time.

(3) Paragraph (2)(h) shall not apply to facilities which are provided for washing hands, forearms and face only.

We've had roller towels since before I started here. Earlier this year they took the rollers out and installed paper towel dispensers instead. We assumed it was for hygiene reasons, but who knows ?

We have warm air driers (some of which don't work) and roller towels which are quickly used up.
Despite the best efforts of our decreasing numbers of cleaners our toilets are places best avoided
unless you are deperate.

We often run out of paper towels, because the Cleaners run out. Aparently, they're only allowed a certain amount of them, and when they're gone, they're gone. At least until the next delivery. We have the same problem with the handwash too.

We do have electric dryers, for those who prefer to use them. And of course, for when we inevitably run out of paper towels. But they're no good for those of us who have dry skin problems. And there are a few of us. The dry heat, makes our skin crack, and eventually, makes our hands bleed. Personally, I just dry my hands on my top, rather than use those things.

When we run out of handwash (not as often, but does happen from time, to time). They put out bars of soap. So we have something to wash our hands with. But they tend to turn into mush, after a while. Because so many people are using the same bars, one after another.

WHAT!!!! That's rediculous! What happens if you have someone who can't use the Hot Air Dryers without making their hands crack, and bleed?
Or are you lucky enough, not to have anyone in that situation?

I doubt that as i can suffer from dry skin and many others have the same problem esp around the fingers due to the letters drawing the oil from your skin
