This morning in my office we were all given notice(a photocopy) to tell us all SA's will cease in 4 weeks, is this happening everywhere?

What all SA's, most of our SA's are evening collections, how do they propose to collect the mail then? Are they proposing these hybrid duties something like 1000-1800, whereby to go in do a delivery and then a collection on top. Or are they going to take more people on to do them?

Everything is going, day off SA's and afternoon SA's, no hybrid duties at our place yet, probably as we are based in a MC. They do want up to 20 of us to go to different offices, the offices they've mentioned arn't even in our area, just in the same county.

We've only 1 SA left in the office (afternoon collection) and I can see that going soon (at the time of the P&M deal I said to those who did these collections that they'll go and they'll end up with just their basic pay, I'e yet to be proved wrong).

If theres still any CWU div reps, area reps, unit reps and members in general who dont understand the perilous position the union is in at the moment see above quote. HQ has said no more savings until we have a national agreement it aint rocket science dont sign any agreements. We are under attack like never before with RM using all the dirty tricks in the book and some new ones thrown in for good measure. READ MY WORDS NO MORE SAVINGS.

Where I am, we were given our notice for all the SA. But we were also told, that it was because they were reducing it, and giving us the opportunity to reapply, rather than just taking it away from some people (it's fairer that way).

They reduced the SA in my MC by 1 hour for each slot last year.
There is now no OT except between 1700-2200 when the collections come in.
Incoming Foreign Mail (especially US mail) has fallen sharply since Xmas.
Despite the 'maintaining reasonable levels of earnings' and an agreement to
offer 20% of hours as OT opportunity, management are saying it is a choice
of cutting jobs or OT.
There is a belief that management may cut or cease the remaining SA.

remove, reduce ther is no difference.
Pay and Mod is quite clear, continue to offer reasonable local earnings levels, what is currently in existance is reasonable, anything else is unreasonable.

1 hold emergency general meeting NOW if not sooner with a motion to request a ballot from HQ on the grounds that the business is not abiding by the IR Framework or the Pay and Mod agreement for IA if the matter cannot be successfully resolved by the end of the week via the IR Framework.
2 leave till the day the first sa expires and walk as soon as the first person is refused to sign on for it.

the second action has more impact, although the first is legally correct.
mind you though it depends on the members.

to be ceased from 13 June. There is now no overtime in Mount Pleasant, except scheduled
Sunday Duties, and Management are saying these will be cut soon, when Sunday Network
Distribution ceases.

People holding SA's (Mon-Fri) received letters today giving them notice that they are
to be ceased from 13 June. There is now no overtime in Mount Pleasant, except scheduled
Sunday Duties, and Management are saying these will be cut soon, when Sunday Network
Distribution ceases.

I tried telling all the docket monkeys that they'd lose their SA and then their normal OT but none of them listened to me, it only gives me a small amount of pleasure now that it's starting to happen.

i dont do s.a but in my office the staff who do the s.a have been giving a letter stating that s.a will be removed as of a certain date. The union will not even attempt to communicate an agreement to cover these changes so the dom has told everyone that if they dont sort out an agreement locally he will use an executive decision and have the right to choose whoever he wishes to take on hybrid duties to cover it.

i think its pretty dodgy that he has this supposed executive power which enables him to bend any agreements. If the s.a contract is cancelled how can he just choose what he wants people to do without them agreeing?

Hi this is the first i have heard i haven't received any letter, my sa is part of my duty i do packets then the last collection which is 5:30-20:15, does this mean half my duty will being going? how can they get rid of all sa's how will the mail be collected, i have no businesses on my collection just post boxes does this mean if they keep mine on i will have tons of mail as not being collected through the day?

Its only certain offices where SA is being withdrawn so yours may not be affected.

The reason why locally the Union won't come up with an agreement is that Nationally there is a policy to not agree to savings until there is a National Agreement. As soon as your Managers EA the changes then no doubt there will be a ballot to defend your rights and positions.
