I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can get a "staff deal" on Post Office credit cards/loans. Is this true? How do I find information?

Even the best staff deals will be poor compaired to what you can get 'on the market'.

Barclaycard Simplicity do an excellent 6.8% APR credit card, be hard pushed to beat that. Think the PO card is 16.9% APR

Why not look up your local not for profit credit union ? Avoid making donations to the parasite class

You're likely to get a better deal for a loan with your existing bank, rather than using the Post Office's partner (Bank Of Ireland), especially if you've had an account for several years with your local bank branch.

Don't be tempted to make a big purchase on any credit card. Even the 6.8% rate quoted by the previous poster is extortionate when the base rate is 0.5% Industry experts reckon that if you make only the minimum payment each month, it can take up to 17 YEARS to pay off a credit card debt

The base rate is inter-lending between banks, not the average Joe. Even mortgages, perhaps the cheapest mode of lending, are always around 2.0% above base.

You'll be hard pushed to get a loan at 6.8% these days which is why I mentioned that card, minimum payments month in and month out is always a foolish option in the long run.

But you still need the overall cost of comparison which often equates to around 6%+ in reality. (Mortgage fee's bump this up for example)
