Royal Mail's reply to missing mail
is this a joke? or someone taking the pish??? had a letter from rm five mins ago.
I was very sorry to hear of the problem you've experienced with mail addressed to #####
Of the huge volumes of letters and packets we handle, very few encounter a problem along their way - but we take every single failure seriously.
My investigations into your enquiry have included checking all available service information and i cannot identify why this problem has occured.
Additionally, due to the millions of pieces of mail that pass through our massive postal pipeline each day, we cannot trace items unless a specific trackable service is used.
I have however been able to take the following action:
Logged and reported the full details of your complaint.
Passed these details to my colleagues in our delivery operation.
Enclosed a book of stamps as a refund of the postage you paid.
In light of the service you have used and the evidence provided, i'm afraid the compensation in this instance is limited to a refund of the postage paid or 6 first class stamps, whichever is the greater. If you wish to claim for the value of lost items in the future, you will need to provide additional evidence, such as the certificate of posting and proof of the item's value. A certificate of posting is provided free of charge when posting at a post office.
I'm afraid there are no further investigations i can make, so i hope that the action and explanation above resolves your enquiry and concludes this matter. If you have any other concerns though, please contact us via the details above, quoting your unique reference number shown on the top left of the page.
Once again, please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of royal mail for the problem you've had, and our thanks for taking the time to make us aware of this. Please be assured that we take letting our customers down seriously and wil use this information to make further improvements.

Re: reply to missing mail
two similar packages, both going to the same address on different occasion, both sent from the same post office, handled by the same clerk on both occasions, certificate of posting was sent to rm, and they tell me to provide evidence of posting if it happens again?
book of stamps by fook.
does this mean all first class letters must be paid extra for track and trace?? come on!!! they're having a laugh.

Re: reply to missing mail
did you put a return address on the packages that you sent ? this is a common error most people make, at least you will get the package back if things do go wrong two main faults that i see with items of mail is 1. no or incorrect poscode 2. no return address on the envelope or package i hope your packages turn up, im sure you will hear from customer services soon regards

Re: reply to missing mail
lol, ive rung up security after i read the rm customer services letter. im not having any of this and nobody should have to endure this. it does stink i tell thee.
the freepost code was the same that the store despatched me.. the postcode was correct..
its curious what has happened to them. like the other missing mail 1 post, as far as im concerned, its an inside job somewhere. its too much of a coincidence having two identical packages sent at different times both going missing one was bad enough, and id be suprised if someone was daft enough to do it a second time.. what possibly could have happened?
lol, i said to security, as long as its not stashed in some posties attic. it was the same post office, the same clerk. and whats worst, he knew what the contents were cos i get chatty, and was saying i was getting fed up with having to return cds. the clerk didnt know which titles they were, but cos of chit chat, knew what the contents were. and besides that, when the clerk asked if they were valuables? i said no, just cds.
could have been someone at the warehouse at the store. they may well have genuinly arrive and the warehouse said they hadnt.

Re: Royal Mail's reply to missing mail
I think the Clerk may have just asked if they were valuables to see if you needed further postal insurance?

Re: Royal Mail's reply to missing mail
funny how some firms ask if returns get sent by recorded delivery? why should people have to use recorded delivery as an extra expense? the firms didnt send them to customers as recorded delivery in the first place.

Re: Royal Mail's reply to missing mail
yea, the p.o clerk asked if they were anything of value as a routine question. i been buying cds as a catch up just before xmas, about october/november, bargains on the net. bought loads. about 25% were returned and exchanged. was quite regular, two or three sent back a week for a month. hadnt bought any since mid 1900s and was in the process of updating my vinyl and buying the cd versions.
after november, hiccups were occuring, like cracked covers, broken spindles, occasional scratched cds. even my u2 greatest hits brand new cd was jamming right on the last song. sent that back, got a new one, was ok then lol.
after xmas, i stated going on ebay. got scammed first time end of jan. stopped using play.com cos i bought all the stuff i wanted. same with hmv.

Re: Royal Mail's reply to missing mail
you just solved your own problem (apart from suffering from verbal diarrhoea) - use hmv or Play.com, their own receiving staff are probably more conscientious than the company you use and don't need to blame Royal Mail for everything they can't find.johnsouthwales wrote:funny how my hmv or play.com returns didnt go missing lol.

Re: Royal Mail's reply to missing mail
ebay is full of scammers.. there are a few genuine ones, just like anywhere else. rm was used to send back items to play.com. (and where are play.com)? i used rm to send back items to hmv (and where are hmv)? i use rm to return things to tesco (and where are they? suddenly things disappear.. if you read the others, i did say it could be a scam in the tesco distributor warehouse. but because rm couldnt be botherd to find out anything, what would u expect?
its not nice blaming rm. but if i was relying on rm as a business and stuff vanishing, who picks up the tabs? book of stamps for 40 quids worth of missing cds ffs

Re: Royal Mail's reply to missing mail
maybe it was my fault for not using recorded delivery to return the ebay stuff.. didnt see that one coming eh.. but what if the seller was telling the truth when she said she hadnt received the returns?? was she or wasnt she?
then again, tesco should have got their arce into gear into finding out what happened, instead of letting royal mail take the rap. end of day, someone has to pay out compensation somewhere along the lines, whether it is the taxpayer or compensation out of rm profits, or muggings the consumer pays for it through retail compensation and losses.
either way, the public are made to look like mugs. if it got damaged, fair enough. if it has got lost, how did it get lost, and its about time the public knew how it got lost. people have a right to know. so many stories with mail stashed in attics and lofts, been burnt in bonfires wtf. mail turning up five years later, people lose money because of delayed mail..there is always a logical explaination for everything.
public don't like it when things go missing. and posties don't like it too..
