Sharp edges on letter box flaps

I cannot stand or see the need for the sharp cut 45 deg edges you find on most alloy letterbox flats. One dug me in the botton of my thumb today as i slid the letters though, not good blood etc. Some of the painted flaps have a nice rounded machined edge so why cant they make them all that way Its quite clear the designers have never even attempted to post a letter through thier own finger cutting boxes.

Yep, 9 months on the job and my right hand looks like I have been self harming! The sharp ones are normally also the tightest ones that you have to really push the mail through making the issue worse. Some ppeople should just stick barbed wire in the letter box to finish the job off properly

After a while you get used to them, you just grow leathery skin on your thumb

Some of the things seem actually designed to do you harm rather than just stop a draught or whatever. They're either razor-sharp or sprung as tight as a mousetrap. If you're really lucky you'll get one that's both... and VERTICAL.

If you are injured by a letterbox, make sure it goes into the accident book and until such times as it's fixed don't deliver to the address, let the management sort it out.

Its true this is the correct way but by the time i get back to the Office the managers have all gone home. Next day it only looks like a scratch although remains sore.
I learned many years ago how to deal with the stiff sprung brass types but this silver alloy type fitted to many modern plastic front doors keep getting me again and again. It normally occurs when your strugling with tight brushes and you tend to rock the mail back and forth to get it through.
I seem to do this without thinking and before you know it you have caught the soft skin at the base of your thumb on the sharp cut corner Its really annoying and so easly fixed if they smoothed the corners with a file or grinder when they made the blasted things.

I read this before work this morning then promptly went and cut my thumb on the afore mentioned letter box

Didn't hurt though
