It was announced in our Work time wotsit today that rurals no longer have to participate in the missort run. They can just prep and go as soon as they are ready. Town staff have to deliver their missorts everyday though. (either wait form the 9am missort run or do them on your way home)
This went down like a lead balloon with us townies
Our DO is split roughly 50-50 with half town walks and half rural.
It was also hinted that this could be the first stage in phasing out the missort run all together.
I just wondered how/if other DO's did the missort run?
Suprising as there is a big fine hanging over RM because of missorts.
Down our way they are looking to have our run arrive later because of it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
Our rurals have always had to wait for the missort run, and nothing's been said about altering it.
Mind you, we're only 45 mins from the main office.

Our rurals have to wait only a few very local deliveries creep out to do the odd road.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
Here in Dunfermline our rurals have never had to wait but town guys have to, some even sneak off onto delivery ffs and come back for missorts....funny tho today what with IA on Sat, we were told to leave mailsort AND not wait for missorts...what ever happened to some consistancy
Our office is about 75% rurals, and they don't have to wait for the mis-sort run. Towns can go out beforehand, as long as they come back for 0830 when the mis-sort run comes in.

Mmmm then it'll be "collapse this walk and you can go when you're ready."
You'll be amazed how many will be out in their cars delivering an extra 30 mins to make 10 at the end

we have to wait until 10:00 am for the missorts whether on rural or walk
What I can't understand is that they will keep us hanging around for a handful of mainly undated missorts to a time where we get cut-offs. Apparently it is better to not deliver to some roads at all than do a full delivery and miss out on a few letters. The lunatics have truly taken over the asylum.

in our office(after revision) they are pushing completing the walk but streaming as required
some guys are barely putting in stamped and dated!!!
still waiting for the missorts though

to be honest , the older I get the less i understand. I can't wait to get the hell out of it
I have been working for RM for 6 years now and still can't work the missort run out. Our missort run leaves our office at 7.30 to get to the main missort office where all our area congregates for 7.45. Now on most days we have only just finished the IPS by 7.30 and we have not touched walk sequenced/walksorted mail yet!! So any missorts we get from this time onwards doesn't go anywhere until the next day so surely this defeats the object of the missort run!!
