Interview day after...

About half way through my walk on Thursday, I twisted my knee quite badly. I took a 15 minute break and thought about calling the DOMs for someone to do the rest of the walk. However, as it was a heavy day, there was a lot of D2Ds still to be done and lots of the election things to be delivered I decided against it. Which then made it slightly worse. I was stupidly trying to help the DOMs.

This morning I called in, early, to let them know I wouldn't be able to make it today, explained what had happened and told them I had a knee brace and couldn't put any weight on my knee. About an hour ago a white A4 envelope came through my door (obviously I was expecting the "How can we help you get back sooner" automated letter). I, was not expecting a second piece of paper asking me to attend an interview with my DOM tomorrow at 11 am to discuss my sick absence.

Do I need to attend this "interview"? I thought the whole point of taking days off sick was that you weren't fully mobile, and resting whatever the problem is.

Can they do this?

I'm not 100% but I thought that there had to be a set period before you were called in, maybe a fortnight.

Maybe your nice considerate DOM wants to go through an accident on delivery form with you.

Actually, they probably WILL come to see you at your Home. They did that for me, a couple of years ago. Just make sure that you have a Union Rep there too. Mine was quite happy to turn up, to help me.

You tell him you cannot walk and tell them to come to YOU!!! Normally you have to be off for 4 days then you get a letter to come and see area to see if he can help you return. Even at this after not even 1 day it is just not on! Ring your union.

Get your union rep on the case and copy and note down everything in your defence we all must justify our jobs in royalmail now!. This may sound over the top but having been in your position it is not it is the way of royalmail these days!.

report it to the Social as a Industrial Accident - all good stuff for a rainy day
