missing mail part 2

Post by johnsouthwales »

confusion here. certificate of posting says 30 days to make a claim for compensation.

an ebayer scammed me back in january/feb. the items were sent back on feb 11th. the seller said on march 19th she had not received the package.. paypal closed the case because i assumed a receipt was ample enough for proof of postage as the package was handed over the counter at p.o lost my cash, probably the seller has sold on the returned goods, charged me over a tenner in original postage when it actually costed £2.21 to send to me in the first place.

is it too late too launch an investigation with rm?
and here comes avi cohen! oh i say! at the same end, he's got one back!!

doesnt matter. im in rm website now looking at the fine details.

would i get charged by royal mail if it is proved by them that it had been received by the seller? i dont want to waste their time. where would i stand in that case where the seller says she hasnt received it and gets found out that she had received it?

I don't think there could be any action unless the item was signed for under RD or SD BUT you may be able to check the sellers history to see if the same item has been put back up for sale - though there are other sites which sells goods some more fair than ebay.

missing mail is missing mail.. recorded or not.. missing means missing. and that includes the missing 2 seperate packages returned to a known company in the other post. same post office.. same packaging.

so how do people get sussed out then? plenty of stories in here regarding missing mail

right this is a bit different
you opened a paypal dispute and returned the item to the seller
you didnt use a tracked service and seller 'says' they never got the package?
in any PP dispuyte you must use a tracked service
you would then add the tracking number to the dispute console
you then get a refund when it shows delivered

oh i see.. no, forget paypal bit.

there still is the royal mail issue. im looking at the statement the seller said, hasn't been received = missing.

so i can go to rm and report it missing

paypal wouldnt pay out cos the receipt the p.o gave me wasnt a proper tracking thing. it was proof of posting receipt, the packet was returned before paypal got their arce together..they didnt really get involved until march

Paypal require proof that the item was received, not just sent. However, you sent an item that wasn't received, and have proof of postage, so you can claim from Royal Mail. I wouldn't mention ebay to Royal Mail when claiming, it just confuses them! You'll get good advice on the ebay forums... http://pages.ebay.co.uk/community/chat/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

hmmm. when rm ask me for receipt of original purchase, it'll be copy of online invoice and show ebay on it anyway. or at least it be a paypal invoice.

its funny how things conveniently disappear lol. not that its a laughing matter, but ironic. could be a coincidence. odds on that the seller is pulling a fast one. i received them so why didnt the seller? but, im not the only one it's happened to, and certainly not the last.

agree , I always charge for recorded / registered for my buyers , too many people playing the not received it routine.

Paypal can be hard work and tends to side with the wrong people .

im thinking of selling some things on ebay myself.. people cant really afford the track and trace tariff. £5.45??

id go ape if i sell something and the buyer says it hasnt arrived and all that.. at least id have the sense to ask for a certificate of posting.. recorded delivery i suppose is next best thing.. but people arent always in....paypal dont recognise recorded delivery, only trackable.. i cant see what the difference is, once its been received, its been signed for, therfore delivered

it seems people play the i haven't received it scenario, cos its either a kop out of responsibility and they play the system or plain simply lost in the post (either in someones attic waiting to be discovered in the next 5 years) which is rm's responsibility for failing to deliver.

i would't have thought the same seller would be daft enough to re-sell them on ebay when i reported the seller to ebay and paypal. probably she got a mate to sell them.. then again, how could it be traced. there be hundreds of the same titles since
