Electric Trailers

Post by Puppetmaster »

Light hearted post for the weekend,
Given RM policy on 2 men and a van taking out every thing have another green option,no not a donkey although that could be a serious contender with the amount of drop bags we have now .

Do you rember years ago RM had a sort of electric trailer, large thing ,tried to get a photo but could not find one,use to go to town centers with parcels, might just be big enough for 1 man and his round now ! ,any ideas on what size you would need for 3 combined rounds ,possibly one with a toilet in the back then no need to go back to the office, what about a sleeper cab then you could do even longer deliveries with no need to go back to the Office say you pick up your trailer Sun night load it stay out all week then go back to office fri night.
But where would you park up ,on one of these Council estates where they would proably nick the mail then burn the Trailer, just my thoughts you got any other ideas ?
Be carefull any real stupid ideas could be used by RM and implemented as cost cutting measures .?

Have RM looked ever at using donkeys on rounds ?
Do you think my ideas could get me into Management?

Another Idea how about ,if Postmen refused to deliver red letters to people ,say council tax demands wich I find objectional to deliver.People who have sign on front door no junk mail,so do not deliver mail sort their.

Another crazy idea ,any Manager in any posistion must have done deliveries for 3 years ,also they must know their own name and be able to count to 10.
Thoughts ?

:nana Yip.i was just thinking the other week,(Can't remember if i mentioned it on the boards)
We could get one of those mobile library type vans, sling in a few frames, and sort the mail on the way to our rounds.
obviously, folks would have to come out for their mail, but if we gave a set time each day,NO problem!!

All you'll need to do is paint it red and stick Royal Mail on the side (or paint it white and hire it off someone).

Hi puppetmaster

i think this is what you are looking for. Can you imagine the damage you could do with one of these.
Our manager told us he would supply us with electric trolleys if required, not these i guess but like most of the managers they live in dream world.
By the way he said yes to the trolleys as no facilty for pouch boxes (purely financial).

:nana Yip..just imagine when all these machines street sequence the walks--they could just bung the mail in to the vans!
i reckon four frames would fit in each van--plus small porta loo and canteen fascilities.

The porta loo was a plastic bucket and the canteen was a packet of smokey bacon crisps - the ladies were supplied with a long poncho :hmmmm why would they need that to eat a bag of crisps?
