Heard an wee story today from a colleague who works in Edinburgh. He told me that one of his customers was getting a bit peeved at receiving their mail early afternoon. They told him that it was nothing to do with him, just they needed their mail earlier in the day. He suggested that they contact RM and for a fee( considerable fee) I think he said to me it was about £3500,they could get their mail before 9.00am. Anyway they got the forms sent out and sent off their massive cheque and promptly got the knockback. RM,now this is the DO that deals with the city centre of the Scottish capital, told them the didnt have the staff to accomodate another 9.00am. They company then contacted a courier company in the city who now collect their mail from RM for them at a yearly fee of £1500.
Whilst writing this I am wondering why, even if the DO was stretched RM didnt take the £3500 and then contract out the job? If they prices are wrong sorry I have no experience of this service so can only go by what the guy told me.

It is in the values instilled in every manager to know the cost of everything and the value of nothing and as such the competition will gain a foot hold and so will TNT's future management :lfo & :cfo as well has him getting backhanders :mfo!.

I always thought that the mail was to be taken out at the MC and sent to the DO in a seperate bag
that's why the extra charge.

lol nope. we have a load of paid early calls
of course with the later starts etc we dont have all their mail ready in time
so they get what we haveplus SD's before 9.then get a 2nd delivery later with the rest
as for the original post, maybe if they hadnt moved EH1,EH2 & EH3 to a delivery office in EH12 they could have made those extra pre 9am slots

Mail collect only allows collection of mail during the normal opening hours of the callers office. Early collect or timed delivery allows collection/delivery of available mail from 6am.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:custard wrote:disgruntledpostie1 wrote:I always thought that the mail was to be taken out at the MC and sent to the DO in a seperate bagthat's why the extra charge.

(I know that a few businesses collect their post at 9am and don't pay for it).

If the mail is still sorted at the DO then how can they charge 3 1/2 k for collection (or for that matter delivery) £14 per day to collect your own post (or some of it) seems to me to be a rip off.PhilthyPhil wrote:Mail collect only allows collection of mail during the normal opening hours of the callers office. Re: Sorry but we just dont have the staff.
if you rock up early for a mail collect then you will most likely get very little mail and wouldnt get a delivery afterwards
organisations paying for early delivery will be having their mail sorted out during IPS so more of their mail is ready
we have companies who collect their mail early but dont pay for it as they only get whats mails ready and any left is left for the next day
