Attacked Today On Round . Info Needed

Ok its not as bad as it sounds BUT at the time i was RAGING ! ! !

Posting a skymag through this door and normally i wait till about 2 inches are sticking out and i push it through . Done this ONLY for a f**cking CAT to throw its paw out the letterbox and slash 4 fingers ! ! ! !

I stepped back not really understanding HOW the hell it could do this and looked down at my hand and it was quite literally pouring blood .

I banged on the door and waited . Whilst waiting im dripping blood all over her step . FINALLY an older woman answers and i hold up the bloodied stump ( lol a tad exagerating now) and say " this is what your cat just done "

Now I was ready for many answers but the one i got just about made me want to throttle the old b*tch . She says " oh hes done that before " ! ! ! WTF ? ? ?

I shouted " Well why the hell havent you put a guard at the letterbox then to stop this " ? ? She just stood there .

Ok question is what do I do about her ?? As its been done before do i report it ?? Just need some advice .

this happened 2 me once. i reported it filled in the appropiate forms, letter was sent by the dom basically saying if you dont keep yer cat away from the door until your mails been you will need 2 collect it from office. added it 2 the walklog put it on a dog aware card? the woman actually came down and appologised so all good in the end.
i remember a news article once from a few years ago lambasting a d/o and a postie for making a fuss about a cat that was attacking a postie but it is bloody sore so my sympathies and hope this was helpful.

I think we've all been attacked by a cat while putting mail through a door, just remember to report it to your manager and then I'd suggest you just learn from the experience and try not to stick your fingers through peoples letterboxes (we're not supposed to anyway, I think brothermegrew can point you to the exact rules).

The problem IS ......... My fingers were a couple of inches AWAY from the door ! !

must have been a hell of a cat for that kind of a reach. assuming the letter box is 500-700mm mid-door height, either the cat was already in the vicinity and the opening of the letter box startled it prior to inserting the mail, jumped up and used one foot to grip onto the letter box recess and used the other to fend off the 'intrusion'. what are the realistic chances of that happening?

Happend to me before as well, best of it is there was DOG warning card with DOG scored out with biro and replaced with CAT, was a reserve at the time showed a few guys in the row while laughing and asking whats a cat going to do to you. wasn't laughing so hard with my hand driping blood!

Not all letterboxes are that height. Some are much closer to the bottom of the door (on older houses), or perhaps there was a table near the door. Don't forget, cats are excellent jumpers.

This happened to me a few years back my two fingers were really shredded its NO joke . All i got was a ribbing by the lads back at the office but i did get a warning card put on the frame.
I think if the cats having a go through the letterbox and the dear old lady wont play ball and put up a cage i would simply bundle the mail and leave it on the step. Wait till she complains (she will) then get your Manager to send a warning letter about suspending her delivery.

Make sure as brother disgrunledpostie1 has said report the incident to your manager (DOM) and that it is duly recorded via the online ERICA Reporting system. Your manager (DOM) should also write to the owner of the aggressive cat in question advising them to fit a cage on the inside of her door, as if ay further incidents of this nature are allowed to take place he/she will have no alternative other than to consider suspending deliveries of mail to your home or until he/she is satisfied the danger is suitably removed.
