Sadly only 10% of the membership who was entitled to vote did so the lowest on record.

Strangely, I don't remember getting a ballot paper, nor candidate information booklet, nor instructions from my Branch on their preferred candidates, nor any information on these elections. When were they?
I remember discussing it on here towards the end of last year, but everyday just seems to be like Groundhog Day to me.

what could you conclude from that, the membership don't care? are not interested? don't feel it makes any difference?

to be fair the list could go on, couldn't it.

I suppose the big question now is what would/could or even will, hq do to rectify this if anything at all ?
i would be the first to admit that the feeling is for some the gravy train rolls on, for others it doesn't.

Awful turnout but just following the trend (downward) of recent years.

Whole process needs a shake-up!

Starting with the sending of national ballot papers inside a magazine. I know it saves money but what sort of message are the union sending to members about the importance (or lack of it) of these elections.

Most all politicians on all sides thrive on apathy as it keeps them in high paid work with little risk to themselves so why would a union be different?

Our Union would be different as most of the PEC were guaranteed to be re elected simply due to the number of canidates being only a handfull above the amount of people on the PEC.
