With EA's going in left right and centre to feed RM's savings frenzy this is something that I feel could hurt if it was a nationwide response from the CWU.
They should tell RM that staff will no longer go and see their manager if they are going to be late or if they are going to cut off. The union should tell RM that staff are contracted to work 5, 6.5 or 8 hours and this they will carry out daily. They will leave any mail in the frame that they are unable to do within that contracted time. If managers want staff to work OT then they should go round and ask on a daily basis the same way any other firm would do.
Staff at Tescos do not go down and see their manager and say that they will need another 30 minutes to do aisle 3 or that they are cutting off, so why should we have to do this.
If the CWU set this in stone then RM would be up s**t creek. CWU shouldnt have to negotiate this with RM as they are purely wanting us to work the contracted hours.
Just think of the fun of watching your manager come round on a daily basis and beg you to work over
If nothing else I think it would get RM round the table like a shot since nothing else appears to be working.
It is not IA it is working our contracted hours plus OT if you want and the manager has asked you.
