You should tell your DIM it's mandatory not optional,30 minutes has been put into your duty once a week, this was a business decision,it was put there as a way of communicating the ideas that RM had decided was going to be the policy or best direction.Hear we go i think the way it was put to us on the training course was like Blue Sky Thinking for staff, run it up the flag pole see who salaughts it,tell him/her that and see the reaction, ours got really annoyed with us.

Trust me you have not missed alot, there are members of staff in our place that have not had a WTLL brief in 5 years simply because of the job they do they dont even get told what went on so dont worry, the only reason we have a go is because they like ramming the rules down our throats so much so it's like our turn to ram things down theirs.

There's even one person at my place, who has refused to go into any WTLL sessions. So he's given a printout of the Brief, while the rest of us go in. There are a few others, who have tried unsuccessfully (so far) to do the same.

Personally, I like going in to them, as you're able to provide feedback. Having said that: I have a Manager who actually listens, rather than fobbing us off. So I can understand why some others, want nothing to do with WTLLs.

I used to work with someone who never went into them but then used to get arsey with me cos I did.

I haven't had a WTLL siiiiiiiiiiince.... erm.... last september I think. I don't get told anything either. I only used to find out what went on because I had to send print outs to those who missed it. I don't get to do that anymore either.

You need to chase them up on that. There's usually useful, and even important information, hidden amongst the waffle.

I have suspected for some time, that it's deliberate. They waffle on about useless rubbish, so you stop paying attention. Then give you important information. Then if something goes wrong, they can look back at the signing sheets, and say: "Well you were in the WTLL session on whatever date, so you should have known all about it". :hmmmm

I didn't know you could refuse to sign them. We've always been told that we have to. The sheet's passed round, before we start the WTLL.

Our rep has always refused to sign them and adviced us to do the same. You sign in when you arrive at work and when you finish work anything else is agreeing to whatever they attach to that signiture ie work time learning. If you have not signed you have not ben told. Dont sign untill its on your training records agreed by you and with the cwu.
