It's all very well for anyone to think this, but nobody should accept being spoken to like this.
Would i be right to assume that there was more than one of you there, if so you should all fill out a grievance against the manager and their DOM (if it wasn't the DOM giving the WTLL) for foul, abusive, derogatory and inflamatory comments, and anything thing else you think may apply.
Don't forget the manager taking the session is acting with the full knowledge and authority of RM so that is why i would include the DOM and probably the DSM.
the easiest way is to make the grievance against your office so it would read
Who is your grievance with your reply is Royal Mail (town/city/village) delivery office or mail center or wherever it is you work at.

It seems to me that your manager/s have not had any diversity training, to call someone 'lazy' is unacceptable and is deemed as harassment. As long as you are doing your work properly, the manager should not being saying that you will be taken down the conduct code and sacked,this is bullying type of behaviour should not be accepted. Phone up the bullying and harassment RM and CWU hotlines and log your complaints and put in a grievence because this is unacceptable.

dreadful arrogant unprofessional management , p*** poor recruitment and selection , no people or motivational skills whatsoever , at best he sounds like a prefect in a minor public school , at worst he's never left the playground .

Point is though , who is he trying to impress with this " robust or vigorous " style . I've seen stuff like " Giving staff a reality lesson " ( with RM that's a oxymoron ! ) in that management magazine with lots of pictures in , usual story , unable to control their managers and idiots that can't take orders .

Very Backward , we'd this in the 90's ; to soften us up and knock the stuffing out of us for privatization . It's counter productive . We did exactly as you suggest re H&S " training " meetings , only it was a union resolution through the chain of command . We'd this H&S " training manager " moved sideways .

We were talked to like children and it was all B/S propaganda , nothing to do with H&S , an abuse of H&S meetings .

they stand behind us when we sorting saying "sort dont talk" at regular intervals its their new mantra .as you can imagine it really encourages us to go that extra mile for them ,especally as they usually have a drink in their hands and are standing chating to each other

obviously the orders have come from on high - very arrogant - p*** poor middle management , the British Disease taken to extremes with RM , the braindead RM machine rolls on and on

You to we have just had this then got told it was a chance remark that was disrespectful toward us as staff,we have put it down to the fact that this new way of working is not working and the stress levels are running high,no excuse i hear you shout but that is all we have as an answer.We are now considering which way to take it me thinks it is going to be down the grievence line as we really have had enough of being held up as the problem.

always been the way , blame the staff very negative ; if the boot was on the other foot , they'd soon have people in the office - go for it . It stinks .

i think you have a point there our lino's are spoken to like sh*t by our new DOM, they put up with it though because they, in this instance, are spineless.
