John Leech Liberal Democrat MP

Post by POSTMAN »

Campaign:Postal
Victim:John Leech Liberal Democrat MP & Liberal Democrats' spokesman on transport!!
Address:
8 Gawsworth Avenue
Didsbury
Manchester
M20 5NF
Crime:Blamed Royal Mail for not renewing his car tax and getting busted by the press as he says he did not receive the reminder letter .
Original story: http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 18&t=15636" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Summary:MP John Leech, who speaks on transport issues in parliament, has had to take his car off the road after being caught with an out-of-date tax disc.
Leech says that he never received the reminder letter usually sent by the DVLA to motorists when a vehicle's tax is up for renewal and said "I think it's probably fair to say that's what normally alerts people that their disc is about to expire."
Leech believed the reminder letter may have got lost in the post and added: "I will be making a serious complaint to the DVLA and the Royal Mail because it's completely unacceptable. I can't do my job if I can't get around to see people."

Quite frankly he's talking bollox and is making excuses for getting busted and blaming us.So lets see how his post really is and send him a 'Dear John'.

Here's what i am sending him.

Dear John

Sorry to hear about your car tax issue and the missing reminder. Myself and my colleagues on http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; were horrified at the stress that you have obviously been under since you got busted.

While i am disgusted that you should blame Royal Mail for your inability to remember when your car tax is due and the fact that you obviously do not ever go to the front of your car, have no fear,we here on royalmailchat have made a note of when your car tax is due again and we have made it our mission to remind you next year so there is not a repeat problem.

Regards

royalmailchat member:POSTMAN

Some examples you could use,or make your own up.You can of course if you feel ok with it use your real name.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Dear John, just a little note to let you know you that next year i will contact you again to remind you when your car tax is due,so you don't get a repeat performance of this years problems.

Regards

Regards

http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; member:Your username

Hows this for a letter:

Dear Mr Leech

I was somewhat disturbed to read on http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that you blamed both Royal Mail and the DVLA for failing to remind you that Tax Disc was due to expire, and that you were advocating an investigation to find out why they failed to warn you, or why you failed to receive the reminder.

The reason I am disturbed is that as a Member of Parliament I would have thought that your organisational skills and administrative processes would have ensured that such an oversight would never had occurred.

I would also like to take this opportunity to point out that ignorance is not accepted as a defence in the application of the law and that ultimately, it is the drivers responsibility alone to ensure that their vehicle has all the necessary documents and conforms to all the legal requirements as and when they become due.

In the matter of a Tax Disc becoming due and not knowing the simple act of looking at it would nullify any oversight as after all, it does have the expiry date prominently displayed.

However, as a Postman employed to provide a service I will go beyond just helping out the businesses and residents on my round and I will endeavour to remind you when your tax is likely to become due in 12 months time.

Yours sincerely

Not the old "it got lost in the post" excuse.

When the Average Joe tries to explain that, nobody believes him, so I'm certainly not going to give any credibility to an MP!

BTW, appropriate name for an MP, eh?

Take care...

Dear john it was with sadness and surprise that i saw that you had not paid your road tax and blamed the royal mail and dvla as of course is your right, it was a surprise to me that of the £148,434 in expenses claimed on top of your £60,277 wage some £210.000 in all and of that that £94,425 was claimed for staffing allowance but they cant remind you to pay your car tax that you and we pay every year. £9,772 Communications Allowance and you cant even communicate with yourself about your own car tax you pay every year. £1,008 for Centrally Provided Computer Equipment. that cant remind you to pay your car tax. but it was with relief i have seen you can remember to claim your allowances each and every year and in order to help you one of our unsung public heroes i will send you a letter reminding you before the due date by recorded letter if you send me the due dates for all yours wife’s and staffs cars. Nothing is to much trouble for one of our overworked and underpaid representatives.
