Part-timers still coming in early.
Despite getting some of their gear boxed in and told by the manager and the union to stop coming in early theyre still at it. One guy is in an hour before his due time every day last week and every week for god knows how long.
They cant be stopped.
They cant be stopped.

Re: Part-timers still coming in early.
They'll stop one day when they have there work load increased so much. Take my office for example everytime a walk is lapsed who gets the extra. Those who use there cars, come in early cos they are the only ones with time at the end of there shift. Its total madness.

Re: Part-timers still coming in early.
There's one in my office who comes in at least 2 hours early (I can't be sure because he's in before me
) he finishes before his time but not by the amount he give RM for free plus I've found out that his supposed 3 1/2 hour duty is really 4 1/2 hours but because of his early start nobody can complain about the duty.

I understand they are fools but don't tie all part timers with the same brush, as i'm part time and glad of it don't want or need full time and don't give RM a minute of my time without it going on the OT sheet.k979aaa wrote:They are but fools to themselfs they always bitch about not being full time i wonder why?.

we have part time staff starting early but who can blame them when the full timers(those who are great and good) are still prepping 2 duties and rushing out the door, and finishing early.

But is that the FTimers fault - NO.spilie wrote:we have part time staff starting early but who can blame them when the full timers(those who are great and good) are still prepping 2 duties and rushing out the door, and finishing early.
Put yourself in a managers position: If you have a PTimer who comes in 1hour early unpaid just so he can finish early or get the job done on time are you going to stop them or will you just let them get on with it.
If you have a Full Timer who comes in on time and does everything you want and finishes early what are you going to do. Well eventually you will add to his work load so feel sorry for the FTimer not jealous.
If people honestly believe that there round is too big or there is too much mail on a particular day, then complain and do the job safely. Mangers are just like us they will always take the easiest route and if you are justified in thinking the duty is too large and complain long and loud enough they will change it just for a quiet life.
However, I am confused about one thing. Why do Part Timers and Full Timers in different offices think they have the worst duties. All duties should be exactly the same:
At my DO on an 8 hr Day its broken down as
FTimers:
0600 - 0615 - Coded Bundles taken to frames and start prep. (15 mins)
0615 - 0755 - IPS, Flats, Uncoded Sorting (or prep another duty) (80 mins)
0755 - 0910 - Prepping and Bagging own duty - (75 minutes)
0910 - 0920 - Missort run sorting
0920 - 0940 - First MR (if taking 20 minutes)
0940 - 0955 - Travelling to duty
0955 - 1325 - Delivery (3hrs 30 minutes)
1325 - 1340 Pouching Off
1340 - 1400 - 2nd part of MR
PTimers: 6 hour day is split as
0800 - 0930 - Preppring own duty (1hr 30 minutes)
0930 - 0940 - 10 minute or 30 minute break (up to individual)
0940 - 0955 Traveling to duty
0955 - 1325 Delivery (3hrs 30 minutes)
1325 - 1340 Traveling back or pouching off
1340 - 20 minute MR if not taken whole break.
Therefore total time on deliver for both 3 hrs 30 minutes
Total time prepping own duty:
FT - 15minutes + 1hr 15 Minutes = 1hr 30 minutes
PT - 1hr 30 minutes
Mind you I always though FT had it easy until I got a FT duty and then realised that FTs have to sort at IPs and missorts even when they come in late and PT can concentrate on just their duty

Re: Part-timers still coming in early.
For some part time is good if not great it is commendable that you and some part time posties do this!. As some if not a lot of full time posties do not and thus cost some part time posties hour's and give royalmail a freebie!. SORRY FOR THE SWEEPING STATEMENT "tiredwalker".tiredwalker wrote:I understand they are fools but don't tie all part timers with the same brush, as i'm part time and glad of it don't want or need full time and don't give RM a minute of my time without it going on the OT sheet.k979aaa wrote:They are but fools to themselfs they always bitch about not being full time i wonder why?.

Re: Part-timers still coming in early.
so all walks are equal in all offices full time same as part time oh i wish, oh and what a shame full time staff have to do ips and prep, for years full time staff dictated what overtime they wanted and when they would do it, they hogged the holiday sheet and they picked the best duties, boo hoo they now do more indoor work i will say that again indoor work the easy kind the dry and warm kind, i know this is getting away from the topic but it pi**es me off when full time staff moan about part time staff coming in early i dont do it, but they are only harming themselves so if they later moan then tough, but c`mon what about the full time staff and thier faults anyone wanna start a topic on that

FTimers have the same faults as do PTimers they always have had and they will always will.spilie wrote:so all walks are equal in all offices full time same as part time oh i wish, oh and what a shame full time staff have to do ips and prep, for years full time staff dictated what overtime they wanted and when they would do it, they hogged the holiday sheet and they picked the best duties, boo hoo they now do more indoor work i will say that again indoor work the easy kind the dry and warm kind, i know this is getting away from the topic but it pi**es me off when full time staff moan about part time staff coming in early i dont do it, but they are only harming themselves so if they later moan then tough, but c`mon what about the full time staff and thier faults anyone wanna start a topic on that
No all walks in all offices are not equal but Management are ultimately responsible for that not Posties whatever grade.
FTimers dictating OT - well complain to the Union if its unfair and go over each reps head if they are not willing to challenge or change it.
FTimers hogging the holiday sheet - in my DO we have a set amount of FTimers allowed off and a set amount of PTimers slots available. FTimers cannot use a PTimers slot to get a holiday if the FTimers slot are filled. Why don't they use such a system at your office.
FTimers don't do more indoor work they do the same as they have always done - 2 hours more than PTimers - from that part of your post not sure if you are advocating a longer delivery span, a shorter working week or what - I only pointed out the IPS stuff in my reply to your post to show that despite 2 extra hours work with 10 minutes extra break FTimers should get exactly the same time as PTimers to Prep and deliver their duties.
I really think your anger towards fellow colleagues whether or not justified helps no-one and just increases your blood pressure. If you see an injustice then tackle it and change it don't fall into the trap of US and THEM culture as it will make it more difficult for you if you do decide to tackle any inequalities.
Oh and I deleted your post - Ironic you complained about an insult by insulting someone.
