Walk Sequencing coming to our Office in 5 Weeks

Hello,

In 5 weeks time we are having walk sequencing come to our office after a Pegasus review which in all is taking out 4 jobs.
Does anyone know how many minutes / hours a day RM think this will take out of prepping.
I am concerned about redundancy as I have very low seniority - it is a given I won't get anything in the ensuing resign.
Due to this I can't see me having a job.
As I said, 4 jobs are going due to Pegasus, the holidays have gone down from this month to only having 4 of at any given time (was at least 8).
What with them wanting their absorbtion / summer savings then we seems to be well overstaffed.

Also today someone was going round taking photos of all the bikes. Now could this be to see how much space all the bikes take up and see how if there's room for the 2 in a van sham!! Another 6 drop bag jobs would go on top of that!!

Noone knows nothing at our office inc the rep.

Incidentally we still have people in at 4.30 for a 6am paid start. I get in at 6am and see upto 10 or so morons sorting ips for free. Funnily enough they have removed 4 hours a day early morning SA sorting!!!

We seem doomed!!!!!

Any comments greatfully appreciated.

PS We have just seen our mail centre closed down for a new one further away.

We have sequenced mail in our office.As an example of how it works i can tell you how it works in our office.For obvious reasons i cant say where the office is in the country ,but i can break it down for you.
Start 6am Usually two trays on the frame when i get in ,except monday as they dont run it over the weekend!
6:05am start sorting inward mail,this is packets and flats and at least 10-15 trays of unsorted mail which the machines cant sort.Believe me although the sequenced mail does work a lot of mail just fails as the machines cant cope with the amount yet.We've been told this will improve.....
7:17am Next batch of sequenced mail comes in and packets and flats.And as you can guess at least 10 trays of unsorted mail....
7:30am off to our frames for 20 mins prep time.
8:00 am finish off the mail
8:30 am prep
9:00 am missort run
9:10 am finish prep e.t.c.
We are soon to move to a 6:30 am start.
We also have 4 people leaving through EVR and 3 buy downs leaving about 20 sorters in an office of 160 staff.

Interesting,and thanks for info,but could not work out the prep time on your frame and time spent on ips,Does it redue prep time by much?

The CWU have a very good national agreement called MTSF "managing the surplus framework" ernie, it ensures there are no compulsory redundancies your job is safe.If you do a search on this site im sure its here or theres a link to it.

I'd say it does reduce prep time as obviously your running the frame in sequence,well in pheory that is.But to be honest 10 - 15 mins at most.The real saving's is that we can have less people sorting.Is it better than having a night staff and staff doing more IPS i'd say no.As an exercise in cutting staff but keeping people in jobs,maybe.The pessimist in me can see this being open to abuse in that they can push through more mail,i've noticed a small rise in how much we have to sort.
The reality is a lot of the mail does have mistakes i.e. i had an address 26a in a street that was missorted to 2a,the machine has problems reading some address's.You have to check the mail as you run it in.Also i had'nt made it clear that not all the sequenced mail arrives in order.By that i mean that most will be in order but the later tray's of mail as always not in sequence just your usual mail sent to delivery numbers.
IPS is down by 20-30mins on a good day.But as our office has had pegusus for the last year the time saved is eaten up and you'll still be struggling to finish on time!
