If you are off sick with knee complaint, can Dom ask you to come in and do indoor work rather than walk, or even that you can accompany him/her on rural van round so that you can show him/her the route and delivery points etc while you sit in van ?

- yes they can , it's within the letter of the rule book but certainly not in the spirit of it - they're classed as welfare support calls , all this corporate bo**ocks about you not being forgotten and if you were on your own you might have fallen down the stairs . That's the "carrot" , the stick is you could be on a unauthorized absence if you don't cooperate .

On Planet RM it's as long as it will stand up in a tribunal , or a silver tongued solicitor can make it stand up . RM would say it's tried and tested best corporate practice .

There's worse than RM though , some privatized utilities would not hesitate to put you on a AWOL charge or repudiation of contract , private firms would say you've not informed them or shown commitment so you've " left " your job .

However on Planet RM they'll botch things , be obsessive & over zealous and cross over the harassment line / Human Rights - right to privacy line as they tend to operate on the very limit . That's where you've got to trip them up , if they say " is there anything we can do " as " support " - you can politely say " ask that f**kwit of a manager to stop ringing me at all hours all the time " - if you don't , it's deemed as you're " happy " with it all .

It would be 10 times worse without a union , that's why Snr Mgt wanted a in house sweetheart union in 2007 .

That would depend mainly on the wording of the sick note or the advice the doctor gave you. If he says you are unfit for any work then I would advise the DOM. If unsure on what restrictions there are on your sick note contact your doctor and get his advice. Welcome to the "Well Note" culture as it looks like because Alan Johnson used to work for RM they have adopted his plans already.

I`m sick of hearing about RM and Atossers getting people back to work on `light duties`,if you want to go into work and do light duties then as your bored at home and feel that you won`t cause your leg any mishap then thats fine ,just don`t be pressurised into going back because some halfwit sat behind a computer desk has remote viewing capabilities on your injury.

I think that's the liability insurance gamble RM take - they're banking on you not claiming if anything more happens to your leg . On Planet RM " Our New Approach to absence " - It's " removing the barriers "

We were told at a work time lying & propaganda session - " Our Doctors and nurses will overrule your GP AND we will have some work out of you " - the other line parroted out is " Your GP does not know your job , we do ( well obviously from behind a computer - must be a marvelous computer - the wonders of technology )

- The other way they'll work is to say is a line is only for the Social as long as the Atosser is of equivalent rank to your GP - it's amazing how quickly they get " promoted " - one minute he's a Dr , on the paperwork he's e.g . Dr Death OHS consultant but in the NHS the consultants are Mr Whatever - second only to God in hospitals but never a doctor in the title .

The Half Wit manager is also an " expert "and ATOS have to give the right answers to RM " expert " questions as they are "incentivized " - I'd sign Sir Chris Hoy off as a invalid for five grand a week .

The knack obviously is tripping these idiots up

This happened to me,i had an operation was in hospital 2 days was just hobbling thru the door and the phone went,DOM asking when i would be back!
Was told by surgeon to have 6-8 weeks off,after 5 i had RM Health Dept on the phone diagnosing me as fit for indoor work.They said i would build my hours back up so i did a week of 4hrs indoor a week of 5hrs etc etc,dragged it on for as long as poss as i was so p***ed off with them.

it's not light duties it's more meeting your capability duties.

you can tell them to remove it if you wish and they cannot refuse. I have done this, told them well asked the lino reallyafter he asked how they would keep in touchi said,
"how in olden days before the widespread ownership of homephones and mobile phones would you have tried to get in contact with me"

"well there's your solution then."
then to cap it off the misses was off for a number of weeks and not once did they come round or write, just asked me if i could bring in her Dr's note.

I don`t think not giving them your phone number is a good idea.
Not much point them writing to you or going round to your house if you have a heart attack or some accident at work is it?

I had a seizure at work totally out of the blue and hadn`t updated my details with them after a house move,if my nephew didn`t work in the same office neither my wife or daughters would have known that I was in A+E.

I`ve had more than my fair share of RM managers,Atossers phoning enquiring about my health...they are welcome to phone anytime they want...I usually tell them what the doctor has said and if they don`t like it I tell them to take it up with him and put the phone down,I`d sooner do that then have some halfwit turn up at the door `enquiring` about my health...although I might be tempted to let my German Shepherd discuss it with them
