office closed when i came back

as the title says the delivery office was closed when i came. i knew it'd be closed at 2, but i was back by 1:30pm. just 30mins overtime. i pad locked the trolley outside the office, and tied the special delivery/letters i couldnt deliver into a bundle and shuved inside the front door letter box which was shut, and had cctv. did i do the right thing? i only had 3 other choices i could think of; i could of left the mail inside the trolley (risky considering it would be out there for 3 days) put it inside the post box attached to the building (risking the posibility of it going straight to the mail center) or the naughty thing which is taking it home, which would in my opinion been the best option. what woud you guys do, hoping i made the right choice.

Sounds like you tried your hardest to do the right and so fair play, A gaffer at our office gave a WTL last week and said if you cant get to an office bring the mail back the next day. I said, err... are you askinhg them to take the mail home, he replies no! thats not what im asking

Sorry a manager telling you to bring the mail back next day then when asked no i am not telling you to take the mail home , prey tell me then what is he/she saying? What are these managers payed for, someone should ask Adam see what his answer is
