Good Friday ASAP
For several years I can recall that whilst we did not deliver on Good Friday we have always had a team of sorters in to do ASAP mail and prep walks (usually 3 each) for the Easter Saturday delivery and because so much advance work has been done, the staff have responded by clearing everything. In our office the Saturday is a short duty day (7 hours) and so is the Tuesday after Easter Monday.
This year we have been told that there will be no overtime to do ASAP or walk prep on Good Friday. Does the team think we are heading for a shambolic weekend - I personally think that if we are not offered sensible overtime on Good Friday they cannot expect inconvenient overtime on Saturday and Tuesday.

Re: Good Friday ASAP
Does not always work for everyone - my day off is Thursday so having Friday makes it 2 days off in a row if they make us work Saturday I loose it but gain a 3 day breakeian687 wrote:why can't we work good friday and have the saturday off

Public transport to work and duty would be very limited though

Assuming that you CAN book Good Friday off!rhino49 wrote:....and you'll get the bank holidays back - well planned Belial - enjoy lolBELIAL wrote:Annual leave![]()
We have to put our names on a list, and wait to find out if we're allowed to have the day off. Luckily, this year I've been told unofficially, that I have suceded in getting the day off.

That wouldn't be a bad idea, logistically it would make more sense.eian687 wrote:why can't we work good friday and have the saturday off

Re: Good Friday ASAP
the subject of good friday asap was raised this past tuesday in our team talk. we asked whether there would be people in sorting on good friday as in previous years, the answer was no. we then asked what happens on saturday when we are snowed under with work, the reply was we'll deal with that on the day and just muddle through.

It sums up the attitude of those above them, they would rather risk mail not getting delivered than splash a bit of cash. Its the unrealistic savings issue again.

Re: Good Friday ASAP
Advanced Sort And Prep - used on days or periods prior to normal preparation for mail delivery where bulk mailings or seasonal peaks may put additional pressure on mail delivery personnel - but they don't really care about pressure on delivery personnel any more - they can discard the broken ones and replace them like they do with the machine parts at the MCsPhilthyPhil wrote:what is asap?

Re: Good Friday ASAP
Ah right, I have heard the term before just never knew what it meant. We haven't had any of that for at least 5 years in our DO.rhino49 wrote:Advanced Sort And Prep - used on days or periods prior to normal preparation for mail delivery where bulk mailings or seasonal peaks may put additional pressure on mail delivery personnel - but they don't really care about pressure on delivery personnel any more - they can discard the broken ones and replace them like they do with the machine parts at the MCsPhilthyPhil wrote:what is asap?
