I think the question should be replaced by
How many people do you know that work for Royal Mail that are NOT depressed?

You are happy working 27 hours a week? Do you have other income?
All the part timers, the males at least, are worried sick about paying the bills. Most are looking for either full time work, or another part time job. Most, myself included, looked on being part time as a step towards a full time postman job.
I've spent 20k in the year and a half I've been a postman, just paying the bills. That's in addition to my £200 a week wage. I have a lot more going out than coming in, and there are less and less full time jobs becoming available. Most part timers I know are worried, p'ed off, and some are depressed.

Re: How many people do you know...
Im full time and take home £342 if i have 3 d2d.....i work inside the M25 so i get better allowances so there is no way he takes home £300+ on a 20 hour contract.....he must be on a major wind up or is very dillusional
ive worked in other jobs (the building trade) and only joined Royal Mail because as i needed a regular income.....this job has changed so much from the easy days of 2 deliveries and is now beyond a joke....i would love to be home/finished by 1.30

Re: How many people do you know...
I can only assume you have worked for RM for a short time. Over time your opinion may well change. If you stay in for 20 years or more i doubt you will feel so great about RM. Its a feeling that builds up over the years prob due to a general lack of respect that many people hold both inside and more importantly outside for the job.rowdogg wrote:you bunch of whingers!!! royal mail okay is harder than it was still a great enjoyable job. finish by 1.30 everyday....you people need to work in other places before slagging off royal mail. its got its bad elements (poor managers etc) but i believe the good outweigh the bad, and i can honestly say most mornings i dont actually mind going to work, good pay for not that much actual work. my opinion
