This months Courier - new chairmans address to us

I'm not sure why I read this, as every time I do, I end up raving and ranting :)

But regarding the subject of our new chairman, I was very disappointed that his main thing is going to be H&S, rather than better industrial relations.

I assume by more H&S it will be some thing like where is your hi-vis, as hardly any of us wear one. :)

What I'd like the new H&S regime might include is this.
1. Lower the bag weight to a maximum of 10kg, rather than having people taking out 20kg bags.
2. Reduce the number of hours in the working week, I'd rather have this than a pay ried at the moment, easier to sell to the public.
3. Ban people from taking out their own cars.
4. Reduce the weight that the big trolleys can take.
5. Really mean it, when they say the want to stop bullying and harassment, I mean, how often is it management who do it.
6. Give us really decent kit to work with, better water proofs, decent boots, bring back teh thermal jackets (the ones that went down past your ass, best ever)

I expect there are loads I've missed out, I might even write to ask.adam and see what crap comes back.

You missed what his first sentence's said! "First i'd like to pay tribute to Allan Leighton. Why are you taking out bags of 20kgs mate?
Pouch weights are 16 kgs for your first bag and then the weight reduces with the more you have.
Mail bags are 11kgs.

EH? I've been a postie for 15 years. I have only known two people to accept this stuff happily--most people moan at the sight of it.I even had one woman smear her letterbox in nasty stuff, to make sure I didn't put any through.

I'm not, I do a rural delivery, but I know people who do, we have major problems with bag drops, pouch boxes, and of course acceleration. :(
