i had 3 days off so i think that is still classed as 1 absence ?
so ive got 11 days left and 3 absences in a 12 month period ?

Why do you feel the need or are you being bullied or is the stress of the job getting too you. I always try to not have time off as you never know when you need it most but if there is a problem it is better to sort it out than run away from it as i found out.

i am feeling quite rough and might have to take a few days off and would hate a stage
i was thinking is it work whats making feel like this or is it a cold coming or something naturally lol

I am not haveing a go at you just point out things for others and it is well that you have not posted your location nor name and i have took time out we all need too.

Royal Mail and CWU are committed to this process which will be reviewed on an Area by Area basis.

Talk about confusing! SO does this mean that some offices could go something like

TWO absences or 14 days in a 12 month period (Instead of FOUR). As thats what I am told in our office, we can only go off sick twice in a year (non trialist). How Royal Mail can run like this is beyond me.

you have to be carefull its a rolling 12 month period so keep a note of when you go off .

Just to be sure as well, AODs ( Accidents On Duty ) don't count, do they?

The official line is that AOD's 'would normally be discounted'.

A colleague of mine got a letter recently telling him the opposite. It expressly stated that if he had any time off after his 'minor accident', it would be counted towards the attendance procedure.

He said to me that in the unlikely event of his ending up on a Stage 1, he wouldn't bother challenging this because 'it's not like I'm ever going to get anywhere near a Stage 3, is it?'

I hope for his sake he doesn't get any genuine medical condition that gives him recurrent problems that result in several absences. When it comes to a Stage 3, it would be a total injustice if the absence that started it all off was one that should never have been counted

I don't see how that is possible as it is HR that trigger the stages not offices, all areas are treated equally apart from a few non-Letters parts of the business which have different standards.

When your manager puts you down as sick on the system and you've had sufficient absences to warrant a stage warning, an email gets sent to the DSM Support who then forwards it on to the relevant person, be it a DOM or AGM depending on whether it's a stage 1/2 or a stage 3.

It's not up to the people in the office to determine how much time you're allowed off before you get a warning, it's a national thing.

if you stay within 13 days or 3 sickies in a rolling year you will be fine
