Managers commenting on sickness
Having had to take Saturday off due to genuine sickness (vomiting all Friday night), I was perturbed on saturday evening when I spoke to a colleague who told me the gaffer had mentioned it to the lads on the primary.
Not only did he tell them what I was off for but then went on to say "It sounds suspicious to me".
Nearly 2 years without a days sick and this is what you get for 1 days genuine illness.
Arent there laws to stop this kind of thing?

over promoted s**t stirrer , unfortunately with :lfo & :cfo 's animal house management with clones style , you'll get these p*** and wind loudmouths , there is cynicism but the Union have not agreed to Team Working yet , RM would positively encourage that sort of thing .mclovin wrote:Having had to take Saturday off due to genuine sickness (vomiting all Friday night), I was perturbed on saturday evening when I spoke to a colleague who told me the gaffer had mentioned it to the lads on the primary.

Bang a grievance against him , if you'd tried the same thing with him , RM would put you on trumped up charges & throw the book at you re B&H , very unprofessional , a sarcastic comment you could let ride but not wilful misrepresentation & lack of discretion / RM standards - the rule book works both ways !

That's bang out of order. He shouldn't be discussing your sick record, which is effectively what he's doing, with anyone not authorised to know i.e. you or HR. He didn't have your permission to tell everybody so I'd bang in a grievance.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Yep your manager is setting you up for the fall (telling tales about you so as to make your fellow workers think less of you) you should act now and put a stop to this disgraceful behaviour by someone who should know better do as Aprilaydee says put a grievance in now.Aprilaydee wrote:That's bang out of order. You could also consider the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1997/uk ... 70040_en_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and possibly consider http://www.bullyonline.org/action/legal.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;stokes11eg wrote:mclovin wrote:Having had to take Saturday off due to genuine sickness (vomiting all Friday night), I was perturbed on saturday evening when I spoke to a colleague who told me the gaffer had mentioned it to the lads on the primary.

Arent there laws to stop this kind of thing?Yes, there are laws now- this falls under the data protection act(Google it up) if they discuss your health without your express permission,-they are breaking the LAW-just tell them that.

Re: Managers commenting on sickness
I've seen sh** stirring done by managers in Work Time Propaganda about people being off , he'll get brownie points for it as it's pushing Team Working for the sad s***heads , RM will class it as a perverse moral crusade , all that cr** about low morale and resentment .However if RM pick a fight with the wrong person it backfiresredpin wrote:people with nothing else to talk about really, hence the manager wants to talk about you
It doesn't need people having time off to cause that

Re: Managers commenting on sickness
This is very unprofessional for a manager to act in this way and your sickness or sick record should not be discussed with any other employee. This is a breach of trust and confidence and I would put in a grievance, this is disguisting.

Re: Managers commenting on sickness
that's the interesting bit going by how RM operate , " Witnesses " can only say what RM want to hear , the danger is if you push it , RM will twist everything round and perversely make it look if you are harassing that manager i.e. " to cause distress , alarm " etc to teach you a lesson to eat s*** and break you so you are not likely to give them any more problems . :lfo :cfobogstandard wrote:are your colleagues gonna back you up in the grievance by confirming the conversation took place ?
I've reported things to the Union and got stared at and glared at afterwards . I've known a case where a so called Independent Investigator told someone to ignore thieving by friends of a manager , he didn't , he reported it to the IB , so RM "interviewed" people that they knew didn't like him and sacked him on a trumped up charge of B&H .
Even if something didn't happen , managers will be looking for you even if it takes time , bit like a Prison ?
