Hello I have been talking to a union rep who has told me that there is a difference between a vacant duty and a vacancy.
Vacant: only people on 40hrs can apply for 40hr duties (preference to be given over senior part-timers)
Vacancy: any member of staff can apply (seniority counts)
Due to the new agreement management have to utilise hours in the office, and because of this part timers with seniority cant apply for fulltime positions unless there are not enough fulltimers in the office.
Has any other office heard of this?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
