UM........................................NO. In this area it seems that as long as they get 8 hours release, have their 12 hours s/a a week and or night shift allowance the don't give a stuff.

That sounds more like a local rep taking the piss rather than the National side of the Union.

It's also exactly what RM management want people to complain about . When :lfo took over in 2002 , the name of the game was to play people up against the Union , all those letters , share in failure etc the nice cop routine , then by 2003 ; RM's Senior Management wanted a showdown with the CWU , it was very nasty immediately after and for another year .

I've seen all the stereotype reps , the alkies , people stuck in the 50 's or 70 's & 80's , the ones that sit on things , the old neurotic women , everybody knows them BUT there's similar stereotypes amongst the staff and management as we all know , a mirrored culture if you will , one sometimes being a bit more refined than the one below it .

However as bad as all those Union stereotypes are , the Union are morally and ethically ; streets ahead of RM , who are amoral at best

Then RM changed tact and wanted privatization from 2004 onwards , which meant union bashing and RM got their showdown in 2007 , from which there is still a lot of senior management bitterness which has manifested itself in strongholds like Bristol & Burslem .

But that's the way it's going now.. They have part-timers and 1hour contracts now - things are only going to get worse as time goes on.. The job is fkd and will remain that way now, too late to do anything about it.

The union rep in our office sets a fine example; uses his own car, seen him carrying more than one bag at a time....

RM started that years ago with AG's and TC's after the Way Backward , it was all to impress more Senior Management and dilute the union influence , secondly the big problem was you'd have reps who have crossed over the line in suits instigating all this , it's what Fozziebear talked of - a jumped union rep versus the proper union rep or sometimes it could be the CMA versus the CWU , thirdly it suits RM as it's all divide and conquer .

I noticed as soon as certain AG's joined , Lino's would try and fill people's heads with cr** about teamworking or saying the full timer , card carrying staff were too much on the bounce with any slight .

That's possibly partially why the CWU narrowly lost the Yes vote in 2003 , as DC's and MC's are factionalized , greedy and soulless places , some people didn't care if staff were sent down the road as they were quite happy to stitch the overtime up , be it real overtime or ghost overtime .

Where :lfo went wrong was not being able to control his managers properly afterwards and people soon realized how vicious the RM system could be , no matter how many hours they worked
