D2D our time or RM time

Right i could do with this clarifying once an for all,

D2D prep is it done in my time i.e. come in early or is it built into the walk prep time as workload??????


anyone??? i could do with knowing what agreement is, cheers

Yeah I had this problem and emailed Bob Gibson. He confirmed that the 1996 (i think, u can download from cwu site) agreement is still the current one.

In that agreement it is explicitly stated that D2D is prepped WITHIN duty time and indeed that sufficient time should be given to allow D2D to be prepped within duty time. So the situation is as clear as that - it is RM work and is done within your hours and the duty should be created with d2d time included.

One side issue with that is that if you DO find you are running out of time to complete delivery after you start prepping d2d in duty time you CAN NOT say 'I had to prep d2d and it has made me late so I am cutting off'. Simply don't mention d2d. Cite the real reason which is high mail volume or walk too long. This is because the same agreement says d2d cannot be cited as an issue with regards to round completion.

Thanks, kinda clears it up for me! they are built into duty time, but dont let them make you go over that time!

Yes, but royal mail managers will say its your own time!! i have had this argument many many times, and in the end i ended up just using part of my break for an easier life!! Our union man is on a disagreement about it.

Well according to another poster, if we increase D2D then it will save full time jobs! I'm still waiting for a reply to the query that if the prep and delivery of D2Ds is already part of the delivery spec where are we gaining if the increase is from 3 to 5 with the fall in volumes and mech prep taking up more than the time gained?

I said ok (could not be bothered with a fight that day for a change) left the office and carried on as usual next day putting in frame my d2d's. 3 months later guess what nothing has been said. Its all about them trying it on.

Exactly, there is an allowance for 20% to be completed each day in duty time.
