Leaving your Pouch on your Bike

My walk is through quite a posh area, full of retired people. It's all small blocks of flats (15 or so per building). Can I leave my pouch on my bike, and just take up what I need? The bike is not visible from the road. Or do I need to carry the whole bag up every building?

Your bag always goes with you unless you want to risk losing your job for failure to safeguard the mail, I know it's a pain but those are the days we are living in.

HMM, could i lose my job for the same reason if my trolley got stolen. i havent got a padlock provided with the one im currently using, and dont think anyone at my work uses it anyway, if theyre only going to be away from the trolley for about a few mins

The HCT should be locked whenever it's left unattended and whenever it's left for x amount of time (there are set times that the HCT can be left depending on the area and risk assessment) it should be chained to a fixed object (lamp-post, metal fence etc.).

5 k/gs---in all the years i have worked with R/m i was never aware of this, and to think of all the flats
i have delivered to over the years--no wonder the back is breaking!!!!!

low risk - 10mins
medium risk - 5mins
high risk - 2mins

you should also have had training to use a hct.

i asked an admin/person in the locker room for a chain today, the response was we havent got any spares. i asked, what happends if it gets stolen. answer: then its the managers fault

ilsfor does that apply to how long you can leave the trolley not pad locked to something

cos if you don't its a sacking offence - Failure to ensure Security of mail, a postwoman got done for that at my DO last year.

HCT should be padlocked at all times if your not pushing it.
