Door to Doors and Number of Drops per round

This may have been asked b4 so apologies if it has but:

A) Do reliefs have to do door to doors

and

B) Depending on your hours are you allowed so many drops i.e. we have a bloke that’s going from 32 hour weeks to 20 hours to help save this shower 10% in our orifice. It is rumoured he can expect less drops on his round and won’t have to do IPS in the morning. What are the average drops per part time round or is this stupid question?

20% a day mate Mon-Fri and we all have to do them.You can do them Saturday as well but the norm is Mon-Fri.

but if the regulars want to keep doing them can the DIM make me do em. I am not bothered and the regs want the money but soem at ours are trying to rock the boat.

They are looking for savings at our gaff and what with introducing HCT's, putting more work on nearby rounds due to scaling 12 hours down on one round and now insiting reliefs do d2d's, and reducing OT, the job aint gonna get done me thinks.

There is no average to the amount of drop points on any round, I mean there obviously is in a mathematical sense, but not one that is transferable to work.

All walking duties whether full time or part time should have a maximum (at the moment) delivery span of 3.5 hours. The factors that affect the amount of DPs are:

Terrain.
Housing Density.
Access distance (how long a path or drive is up to the actual DP)
Location of Safe Drops and Pouch Boxes
Method of delivery (Cycle, HCT, OMV, Foot all have speeds that can be set up in Pegasus)
Average attendance calls - (How many times you have customer interaction on delivery)
Weight of bags as per matrix
Call Rate
Travelling time (whether or not you are accelerated out) to and from the duty.

If the postie on the reduced duty has been told he can go down to 20 hours this will mean he will do 4 hours per day(including breaks). So unless the duty is pre-prepped for him and all he has to do is pick up bags and go out, then they will have to reduce the amount of DPs or pay him OT. Therefore if he has to prep and deliver all within 4 hours then yes they will have to reduce the amount of deliveries he has to make.

D2Ds - The agreement on D2Ds is that 20% has to be done everyday Mon - Fri. So yes the DIM can force you to do it if he wants to be petty. However, most sensible managers would turn a blind eye to who is actually doing them as long as they are completed by the end of the week. However, in line with the agreement you should be doing 20% on each walk you cover, and if you don't you are running the risk of being disciplined for delay of mail. As they say if you know the rules and understand the consequences and are willing to take the chance then go for it and hope that the duty holder does his bit for you.

Our DOM tried forcing the issue on 20% for everyone even the relief 6 months ago in an attempt to reduce hours of the walk holder doing it over 4 days or less. Guess what it did not make it past one week. When left to our own devices most in our office will complete by the end of week with out extra regulation. I often complain to my relief that he should do his share. But at no time would I complain that he doesnt, its just office banter, I just get on an complete by end of week sometime saturdays when they are heavy as I have 3 week in week out no let up. I've only once in two years not completed at the end of week and that was cos I kept threatning to cut off so was told to leave d2d them days, what they did not realize was by the end of the week it was impossible to complete. They even tried finish next week (no chance not doing 4 some days and then do then sunday while you are off, again a great big fat no. In the end the DOM relented and they failed. Well no quite they booked them as done.
