your delivery

Post by shimmyrule »

whats it like, people on it etc.

Mines is mixed, few oldies, but loads of fat single mothers, with multiple in bred young everywhere, living in semis, overgrown, smelling, but able to smoke, eat at the bakers and buy from catalogues and ebay!!!!!

Loads of pitbull type dogs, every dole scrounger has one, as well as a shell suit, white socks and says "man" after every sentance.

Local pub full of long term unemployable, and bookies does a roarin trade on poker machines every day, its the same folk day after day, never worked, never likely too.

As is the norm, i have a few junkies, sellers on my round, but the police are always informed if i suspect dodgy dealings.

There are one or 2 nice folk, and some actually work!!!!!

It does my head in , and i get too involved, moaning at the decent punters and near fisticuffs wi the scumbags, ive actually assaulted one junkie on his doorstep, and had run ins with some others, and the occassional fat, car driving, pot smoking benefit claimant.

Ps, how can anyone on the bru afford to run a car?

The rural duties i usually cover are a mixture of holiday homes ( unoccupied most of time and get very little mail :Very Happy ) small villages complete with thatched cottages - just like you see on biscuit tins hehe, some very grand houses with massive driveways and several outbuildings, also plenty of farms, big & small. Lots of places right by sea and estuary..

pretty idyllic really..

Though i did some places similar to shimmy described when i worked in a big (second) city in the Midlands

I thought you were talking about the estate I live on  until you mentioned the local pub, there is'nt one anymore it was closed down because of drugs then it was pulled down to build more flats for the people you describe
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

My old walk- Beginning was all the big houses, posh etc, middle full of scratters, dogs aplenty and everyone related to each other, end went a bit reasonable but finished off with more of the middle.

One guy today had 10 crates of stuff to deliver from the council, he was delivering to the council estate behind the office. Now that round really IS a poohole. We keep finding discarded hypodermic needles around the back of the office
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

My present walk is high density urban dwellings. With a few businesses mixed in. A good cross-section of the community.

Done all types in my time here though. From the posh, private, new villages to the sink estates described above.
In fact, that's what I started off on. At our induction, a manager came in to the room and asked "who's the biggest lad here ?"
Pointed at me and said " Right, Thorby, we'll put you on S* L*******". (one of the worst areas locally).Wasn't too bad though, as this was before SDD so I had it done and away before the scum started waking up. Unlike the poor sap who has to do it now.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Just been moved to a new run, It sounds like the one posted, most unemployed or on incapacity benefit ( more cash than income support) though they seem to be able to round after you if you haven't deposited the expected giro to quizz why you haven't delivered it. It's really depressing and it's not just me, no one likes it. If i'm more than 5 minutes after the "usual Time " I get grief because they're giros late and thats a major problem for some reason, I though being unemployed or on incapacity would mean you had all day to yourself but I suppose they lose shopping time down the local shopping centre where they buy or nick all the designer gear. It seems in this country a lot of people seem to be able to milk the system for much more than we earn doing a hard days graft. I've really started questioning my sanity !!
