CWU - Nine out of Ten Oppose Royal Mail Privatisation

A public opinion poll shows today (Monday) that the vast majority of the public do not want the government to privatise part of Royal Mail.
In a phone poll of people across the UK 75 per cent of those questioned disagreed with privatisation, 33 per cent strongly disagreeing, and this rose to 89 per cent when foreign ownership was mentioned, with 58 per cent strongly disagreeing. Only 6 per cent of those polled were in favour of privatisation and this halved to 3 per cent when sale to a foreign company was mentioned.
Billy Hayes, CWU general secretary, said: "The UK public is overwhelmingly opposed to government plans to privatise part of Royal Mail. This is a deeply unpopular move which would damage a trusted public service.
"We urge the government to take responsible action and respond to the justified concerns of UK citizens who do not want to see this valuable public asset carved up and sold off."
Dave Ward, deputy general secretary, said: "Royal Mail is a profitable public company with a dedicated workforce and unmatched public trust. Why would you gamble this away on an unpopular and unproven part sell-off?
"A huge majority of the public is against this idea. It's time MPs listened to their constituents and scrapped this disastrous plan."
Ends

Any normal sane man who was in charge would sit up and listen to the voice of the people but, unfortunately we are dealing with G.Broon who has told bank chairmen that there would be no reward for failure but the a*sehole is still PM. A bit hypocritical of the chump is it not

The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.
The time has come for union.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Politicians take absolutely no notice of voters except at election time and public opinion won't change Mandelson's mind. Never has in the past.
Don't believe everything you're told in the rest room

I can't believe Brown he tries to score Political points by complaining about the bonus culture in the "City" in that it rewards failure, and what has he done with Mandelson - exactly the same in some respects.

Message to admin and mods:Keep an eye on this thread.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
