Stage 1 interview
Been told today I have to attend a Stage 1 interview because of 14 days off in the last year. However by my reckoning they are counting a day off I had in lieu which they they are now saying I was absent, so as far as I am concerned it should be only 13 days. It looks like I'll get the stage due to manager incompetence. Anyone got any advice as to how I can get out of this? The last sick leave I had was caused by those sodden Magnum shoes causing back and leg pain but all I got was a wry smile when I told my manager this.

Regrettably a Stage 1 cannot be appealed. However take a rep or a witness in with you and mention the reasons for absences to make sure they are on record. This would mean that in the event of an ET you could show probable non compliance with RM own regulations. Also make sure you take notes as well for future reference.

Hi, Know how you feel have had one day off in the past year,unfortunatly just broke my arm so will be off for quite a while, expecting a warning when I get back, really annoying as I hate having time off.

Ask to see your absence record before your stage 1 and show your union rep or witness the day you are in disagreement with. At the stage 1 bring it again to the attention of your manager so that even if he disagrees he will have to put it on record. Perhaps in front of the union rep or witness he may back down about the day and not issue any warning
You cannot appeal but as said in an earlier post it will be on record should you go for a stage 3.

if its not to personal what where you of with. at your stage 1 interview disagree with your sick record. if your reason was em shoes get a letter from your doc stating this.
