the next steps after a vote of no confidence in a rep

Post by geefaetheeast »

hi lads and lasses, our office just had a vote of no confidence in our rep,we attained a good % more than half of our office,we sent the signatures away to the branch sec then received letter back asking fo 25 legible sig's,this was done immeadiatly and returned,my main ?'s are

1)we are to get a meeting with the area union big boys......does anyone know what to expect?(i thought it would be to tell us there would be a ballot, obviously alot more must get asked and said)
2)are we allowed to hold the above meeting during our meal relief,in the canteen ? as the venue the union have selected is at the other end of the city at 11am on a sunday morning.

If our experiences are anything to go by, you will get a load of hot air and false promises that never materialise...and, of course, the existing rep will stay in post....

I assume any rep in post in your office that is unpopular will be facing a challenge this year.

Dont forget nominations for set 2 elections end next week, there's still time for ANY CWU mbr in your office to stand for ANY of the CWU jobs in your office.
