S/A reductions without agreement

Post by islfor »

From next monday we have received a reduction on our S/A collections as part of the business plan savings, the CWU Rep had agreed to the reduction if the manager could provide the evidance as the manager was adamant that it could be done.
No paper work for the new proposed structures was given to the Rep when he has been asking for them all last month, this morning he was given the planned new S/A routes and the Rep then showed the staff to their horror the answer was 'IT CANNOT BE DONE, NOT ENOUGH TIME. WE ARE GOING OVER SPEED LIMITS TO GET THE COLLECTION IN NOW ON TIME. PARKING ON KERBS AND DOUBLE YELLOW LINES. BLOCKING ROADS BY PARKING IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD WITH HAZARDS ON. ETC ETC.
No Risk Assessments taken, all H&S issues are never investigated...........this is all down to one man an ex-postman becoming DEPUTY manager.......

Come off collections, I did a couple of years ago because of the stress involved trying to meet the targets and TBH I don't miss it at all.

Your rep now needs to register a stage 1 dissagrement under the I/R Framework stating all the above concerns for doing so.While this is being done the status Quo should remain untill this dissagrement has been resolved. You area rep will now get involved along with your local rep at stage 2 of the framework,if they can not sort it then stage 3 divisional level is the one after that.

We have already disagreed the changes for the business plan, the Rep is waiting for a chance to sit with the DEPUTY manager to register a disagreement under the I.R.Framework. But the DEPUTY has already done the first part under the I.R. without the Rep being present, the DEPUTY does not understand the process. You couldn't make it up !!!!!!!

Did you get 28 days notice that your S/A would be changing?
If not, they can't change the amount of S/A, only the content.

The union rep has quoted the 28 day notice in his formal letter to the manager.

Then he's got them! Management can't make any changes to the duration of your S/A, without providing the correct notice period. :nana

did your rep consult the members on the managers plan to reduce the s/a. if not ask him why. no good rep would agree to any changes without the members voting on it. hes worth keeping an eye on. could be one of those pocket reps.

get a stage 1 slapped in straight away.
rmld.....
