he also instructed us to doorstep them leave them at front or back door
i replied that cant be proper conduct
his answer was everyone else is doing this it will be ok
i then asked dom re this same reply just leave at doors
what if no one in - just bring them back if they are still there for couple of days
what if its raining pkts soaked what about complaints from customers- dont be stupid no one will complain
asked for it to be putin writing -not needed wont matter
help please this cant be right

Electricity and gas meter boxes, you can't beat em. Take a key with u and leave non-value items in them. It is counted as being behind a locked door as far as i know.

Why not Email Big Al before he shoots the crow, telling him that your manager (name of Delivery Office) at a recent WTLL session has specifically given his or her consent for all outdoor delivery staff to doorstep items namely light bulbs. In your and your work colleagues opinion, and in the interests of properly safeguarding the customers mail (INTEGRITY OF MAIL) this cannot be right (or words to that effect). Could you please give urgent CLARIFICATION to address this anomoly.

I found this Industrial Tribunal decision regarding doorstepping, the postie concerned was sacked and the decision was upheld.

(1)On 26 September 2007, at approximately 2.00 pm, Mr Richard Jess, the claimant’s supervisor was approached at the delivery office in Dromore by a member of the public who indicated that there had been difficulties with the delivery of her mail and her neighbour’s mail. She also indicated that a parcel had been left lying at a front door in the estate. When he received this information, Mr Jess went out to Primrose Way and noticed that numbers 1, 6, 8, 12 and 16 all had letters hanging out of their letterboxes and that at number 12 there was a recorded delivery packet lying at the front door. He reported this to his District Manager, Mr David Hamill. He took a photograph of the package and letter at the address and left a form P739 at number 12 Primrose Way for the recorded delivery packet in accordance with proper Royal Mail procedure.
