It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Im not to sure about that one,ive been the WPC at our office for about 3 years now and been on a couple of courses in between but the role has never been put up for signing after 12 months in that time. When all the local branch positions are put up for signing each year its never amongst them.It could be a case of its that persons role untill they decide they dont want it anymore or the Dom may fancy a change and offer the job to another person in the office. Its a good question and i will try and find out what the procedure on it is.There is also the £30a week pensionable allowance that goes with the job which could be another reason why it is not put up for signing as it may be a safe guard under pay protection like drivers and Ex PHGs get.

As far as I'm aware this is an in post deal and remains so until the incumbent either relinquishes or leaves - having said that we haven't had one for two years and we used to have two.

wpc's are appointed following an advertisement and then sellection process, including self assesment and then a short list of interviewee's are wittled down to fill the post/posts. WPC is not a C.W.U. position and so would not be re advertised untill the encumbant wpc decides to relinquish the position(dead mans shoes) . see attached pdf Work Place Coach Agreement point 9.3

no prob..
intranet I think. as a work place coach you can have an intranet account to keep up to speed with all the latest rules regs equipment, health and safety improvements , latest security ect. So that you can then coach your chaps and chapesse's with the up to date info. (its also a pandoras box of interesting proceedures and processes)
