can anyone tell me why the union refuse to deliver door to door items for 3 weeks prior to xmas i know it is a very busy time but come on we lose a lot of money nearly £100 dont know about anyone else but that is a lot of money to me

If you have enough time to prep and deliver households during the Christmas rush then your duty is just not long enough anyway, because I'm a reserve so I very rarely get any household money.

i agree you lose all the money you make on any overtime you do .no extra prep time needed as you are delivering most points anyrate.just take one a day and fill the odd slots you miss.

Just enjoy the break without them. You'll have another 49 weeks of delivering shite from sky, pizza companies and every insurance company in England during the wind, rain, and snow of 2009. Im sure a little bit of overtime over the christmas period covered the money lost during no door to doors. They are the last thing we need during the busiest weeks of the year and that includes next week as speaking from experience it will be very heavy next week as well.

Yep experience of the last 5 years has taught me that the next 3 months are the worst part of the year and it started today. Loads of catalogues and holiday brochures from now till Easter.

I'm not the travelling reserve on a set number of duties, I'm a general dogsbody who has to cover whatever duty the DOM has messed up and not got cover for, so I don't do D2D's (most of the time anyway ).

The DOM is a complete muppet, he's been told to stop doing what he's doing but he continues because he can't organise the office (if it's left up to the assistant managers then it doesn't happen but the DOM tries to make it happen anyway).
TBH I really hate doing them and if someone else does them, they can have all the payment.

I do not do anything in my "Own Time " for r mail anymore! It would then be classed as voluntary which i do not do.
