Well I can't tell you, because I only got to page 32 and had read the same thing over and over again - when we talk about productivity and efficiency it behoves these blokes to say what they have to say in as few words as possible - and maybe the could shave the price a bit.

Well I aint going to read it all tonight ,but yes over the next few days I will read it all,this is our future and I want to find out why and when things are going to happen,
page 75 and points 124-130,directly concern the CWU and how we are to be treated
box 11 deals with Deutshe Post

Box 11 : Transformation and Engagement at Deutsche Post 66
When Deutsche Post began its modernisation process in 1990, it faced
many of the same challenges as Royal Mail, including a public sector
heritage, and the need to work with a strong union representing over
80% of the workforce.
Four factors were critical in achieving a transformation that all partners
regarded as socially compatible:
• a constructive and trusting climate between the trades unions and
management, including the active engagement of all parties in
communicating the need for radical change;
• a combination of cost reduction and quality enhancement;
• a collective agreement on dealing with staff interests in a fair
manner, including agreements on no compulsory redundancies,
improvement in working conditions,part time working and early
retirement, and virtually no outsourcing in core operations; and
• the absence of political opposition to management’s plans.

I would'nt trust the senior management of Royal Mail further than I could throw them,shower of twats every last one of them.Basically we are to bend over and take our spanking according to Hooper
The more you know, the worse it gets.

Skimmed through most of it.....GULP! Boy are we gonna face a battle if govt. take this up!

bits i really didn't like:

"...pays its workforce above current average market rates" 20% more than other european postal companies.

"...requires change to the CWU...to tackle behaviour of confrontation and obstruction"

"...government to take responsibility of pension deficit, but linked to achieving modernisation"

"political intervention reduced meaning greater freedom for management to implement modernisation"

Right 'Labour' time to make or break. You either stand to the founders principles or replace the conservatives as the party that opposes working class people - time to start a new political party i think - lets get back to grass roots and start a new socialist party!!

Yes - it reminded me of Barry McGuigan - "I'd like to thank Mr Eastwood, and my manager and his minions, and my corner man, and the girlie with the round thingy, and the ropes, and the lights"

What I did notice was the fact that they visited about 10 overseas postal operators - including America and Canada and just 3 UK operations from RM. They also spoke to the CWU so there must surely have been some indication from the tone of the conversation which way Hooper was swinging.

CWU have been saying for some time now that they did not expect the recomendations from hooper to be what we want to hear.

Its not unill such things are finally and offically confirmed can HQ fully spring into action.
